tom2 Stars Out Of 5Disappointed with this study, not seeker sensitive-gapsDecember 10, 2017tomQuality: 4Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I was looking for a study on James for my small group some of which are neighbors (so more seeker sensitive). I chose this book and although some parts are good I was puzzled why it doesn't track through all the verses in James?? For example session 1 is James 1:1-4. Session 2 is James 1:13-18. So, like, what happened to james 1: 5-12 as this book just skips those verses? That's the pattern through the whole study. For my part as leader, I'm doing extra-circular commentary reading to come up with questions for the sections in James this book misses. Second concern I have is some of the questions in the book are very personal/introspective and assumes everyone in the group is a christian. Given I have a few neighbors coming to my study, I skip some of the questions as they are too intimating for newbies. (for example in session 2 one question is find a partner in your group and describe one area of passion & desire in your life that has become destructive then take a moment and pray for them. ) I think for a mature group of Christians this book has good value but for my little small group we needed something more complete and 'lighter' for the newbies...

We really enjoy them and feel that they seem to generate really good discussions and we all feel that we are learning a lot from them.
Alyce5 Stars Out Of 5November 2, 2009AlyceThis study gave us a lot of great discussion and learning. The author leads the group into a deeper level of personal sharing that may not work in all groups but was a blessing for our ladies group. Most sessions lasted about 1 hour.
Moises Rivera5 Stars Out Of 5March 10, 2008Moises RiveraThis is a very good book, I used it in a small discipleship group. The men I shared with enjoyed it very much. Many of them moved forward in ministry and importantly in life. I recommended highly it.
Robert Houser5 Stars Out Of 5February 19, 2008Robert HouserI am leading a small group study with this book. I have led many small group studies , this book has brought about a lot of discussion from the group that I don't normally have in my groups. It is very easy to follow and very practical. If you are looking for a good study on the book of James I would highly recommend Live Wisely.
