The best 20 bucks you'll ever spend in your language studies! The convenience is fantastic, and the verbal reinforcement adds an extra dimension that paper flashcards can't match. I'm still learning the different options this product offers, and there might be a comprehensive list of vocabulary that is not limited to only one of the major grammars- such as, Pratico and Van Pelts' paper flash cards (also here on Christianbook for about 13 dollars) which contains 1,000 vocabulary words, compared to a bit fewer than that in their grammar which is the list I use on this program. However, paper flashcards cannot compete with this product when it comes to both convenience of portability, and also the added dimension of audio reinforcement. This product is a real bargain and a tremendous asset in learning Hebrew. I highly recommend. I'm still trying to figure out if there is a way to consolidate ALL the Hebrew vocabulary in the program into one list, rather than limiting myself to the vocabulary contained in only one of the major grammars. One warning, though: If you are using an MP3 player (that is, if you are using something OTHER than an iPod or a computer), then you may have serious troubles in using the program. I highly recommend this program, but I only recommend it if you are going to use it with an iPod, not with any other MP3 players.

This is a great tool to help memorize vocab, which is the hardest part of learning another language. It's easy to use and very convenient.

As I am writing this review I am thinking about how incredibly useful this product is. On the way into work this morning I was able to listen, and watch a little ;), my Hebrew vocab for this week's chapter of study. Right now, I have it playing in the background in my office as I am working (well, working on writing this review). I truly believe this program will greatly help with my vocabulary acquisition & retention. The definitions are almost exactly the same as Fuller & Choi's grammar (I cannot speak to the other grammars), but it doesn't really matter - this program is only meant to help gain a general gloss/definition of vocabulary, not precise definitions. In addition, this version of iVocab provides effective ways to categorize vocab into "new", "working", "difficult", and "established. Basically, you can rate the words, and then review the ones youre having trouble with.In the previous version of iVocab, I heard from many that there were audio sync problems that caused a mismatch of word and audio playback. That has been fixed, and it workds great on my iPod Touch 2G. Finally, the index of all words as a reference (in a PDF) makes it possible to create your own play lists to review specific words of your choosing.

The program and the material contain has been excellent. I have found the flashcards a great help to have in my i-pod rther than the bulky paper versions I am used to. The only difficulty I had was in the downloading and then uploading process. It was not as clean as I would have liked and had some trouble with the initial download. The instructions were fairly clear and the on-line help was good. I would rate the product itself higher than 3.5 but the initial trouble with downlaoding and then uploadgin to the i-pod lowered my overall satisfaction. Very good product and met expectations.
