Dana5 Stars Out Of 5Healing and EncouragingJanuary 10, 2019DanaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book blessed me and contributed to healing after going through a difficult season with depression. Lysa's words were authentic, transparent, heartfelt and more. The "Going to the Well" summary at the end of each chapter reminds me of transformative Scriptures to read and bullet point thoughts to keep in mind as well as reflective journaling questions to ponder. After I read it, I gave it to a friend recovering from a divorce. This book will make a great gift but for those wondering, "Where is God?" this book is for you! Read, breath and be blessed.
Ollie5 Stars Out Of 5FantasticDecember 25, 2018OllieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"What if the worst parts of your life are actually gateways to the very best parts you'd never want to live without?" - that is a tough question to ponder...but liberating when you realise how right the statement is. This book is all about trusting our God who is good ALL the time. Trusting God to turn what the enemy means for evil, for our good.
Lysa TerKeurst is well qualified to write this book. She has gone through a lot so I really respected her view on this subject. She did an amazing job explaining suffering in this book, it was fantastic. I love that everything she wrote, she backed up with scripture. It was both encouraging, comforting and personal. Her dust to clay analogy is one I will always remember. Thank you Lysa.
"Take this Lord, and shatter it just right, so I can be made stronger, more beautiful, and able to withstand fires as never before. I believe that You see things I cannot see. And You have eventual good in mind" - Amen
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

K Fischer5 Stars Out Of 5Encouragement, support & hopeNovember 15, 2018K FischerIn her newest book, It's Not Supposed to Be This Way, Lysa TerKeurst speaks directly to readers who have experienced an unexpected life situation. She provides sympathy, support and encouragement while examining how we can move through these moments by leaning on God. At the end of each chapter, TerKeurst offers things to remember, supporting Scripture, reflection questions and a prayer. I love that she continually returned to God's word throughout the book.
She is very real and vulnerable, citing many examples from her own life. Her personal situation circles mainly around her husband's infidelity, making it a little challenging to apply to my own experiences, but I still found the information to be very helpful in processing a few things in my own life. I appreciate that she doesn't pretend this will solve our problems. She acknowledges that additional help may be needed, but provides a realistic level of hope throughout.
I have read several of TerKeurst's books, and this is by far my favorite. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for insight as to how to move through a challenging time in their life. Regardless of how big or small, her ideas can be applied to just about anything that we are struggling with.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher.
