bookworm75 Stars Out Of 5March 10, 2011bookworm7Such a fun series--a great alternative to some of the questionable content in Pirates of the Caribbean. Strong characters, driving plot, would make an excellent film. Highly recommended for readers of all ages (make this one a family read-aloud!)

Teenage Writer5 Stars Out Of 5September 21, 2010Teenage WriterCaptain Declan Ross thought it was over. Much of the treasure was recovered, and now he and his crew are working for England, recruiting pirates from the high seas. But Thorne isn't dead. He's planning revenge, using a forgotten people, decendants of the vicious Vikings--and he plans to turn England into an isle of horror and fire. His greatest ally is the mysterious Merchant, a ruthless and cunning person that has been haunting the western world for years. Captain Ross is the only hope England has--and England's king has betrayed him for the treasure. This book was amazing. It didn't seem to have as much 'point' in the plot as Isle of Swords did (like the treasure), but nonetheless, it was another rollicking adventure from Wayne Thomas Batson. I highly recommend this for anyone, even if you don't like pirate stories. Trust me, this is no ordinary 'pirate story'.

Some say that he cannot be killed, but is that just foolish superstition or fact? Only in the Isle of Fire can this truth be found! Wayne Thomas Batson takes you on another stormy sea adventure with navel battles beyond compare! Does the British fleet have what it takes to track down "The Sea Wolf" or will they falter and will the pirates rule the seas? The Isle of Fire is another high see adventure and answers questions that The Isle of Swords left hanging.

Filled with Cat's memory coming back, a hilarious french man, black powder (Kablewee!), hard decisions, interesting questions (two of them to be exact), the defeat of an almost undefeatable blood thirsty "merchant",and much, much, much more great stuff. This book is one that can't be missed. Take your chance and read it!

L. Wallo5 Stars Out Of 5May 30, 2010L. WalloI just finished reading Isle Of Fire and it was as exciting as the first book. Good adventure for middle school readers. Some references to scripture but mostly an exciting pirate adventure. There's battle scenes, sword fights and open sea battles but nothing too graphic that make it gory.
