IS YOUR DAD A PIRATE? is a cute and thought provoking children's story. The dad was in the military (Marine Corp) and came home missing an eye and a part of an arm. When he wore a black patch over his eye everyone wanted to know if he was a pirate. This is the story of how the little girl learned to answer No, he's a hero. She also grew to respect her mom's heroism too as the dad needed some special care.

A very sweet story. Recommend for military children (and others around military bases as well as the rest of the country) to learn that sometimes physical sacrifices are made for the country and these people truly are heroes.

What a wonderfully pro-marriage story that is just the right speed for kids. Though the book focuses on the way one family copes with physical disability sustained in combat, it could definitely encourage civilian families facing various trials too.
