I was super excited to receive this as I have been looking for a way to introduce Logic in our home school.

This study has short lessons and fantastic discussion points. It truly starts at the beginning - it is a true introduction.

This course is recommended for 8th-12th and I tend to agree. I do think the teacher would benefit from reading the text through prior to beginning with their student to aid in discussion.

There is a Teacher's Guide that accompanies this text - it is not necessary, but it is very useful. It contains an overview of the course, daily schedule, worksheets, and answer key.

Overall, I think this is a well-done, thoughtful approach to logic. And, of course, holding to the standards of Master Books, it is thoroughly rooted in Scripture.

This course can be SO important, as it is a VERY helpful component to Apologetics, which hopefully your child is getting, so that they can stand firm in their faith! We know they will be constantly bombarded by the media and people wanting to argue their faith away. But by use of LOGIC, they can stand against them and show how they are morally right! By the end of the course, your student will have the ability to refute the untruths that evolutionists claim as fact, and do so LOGICALLY.

Because learning the terms and principles of a logic course can be like learning a foreign language, this course has been developed to help students learn them via practical understanding of how they work in logical arguments, with helpful real life analogies and diagrams, that help them make sense of unfamiliar terms. BUT this does envolve equations, which means that this course is really made for the Upper Middle to High School student, who have experienced pre-agebra at least, and udnerstand how equations work. Otherwise they can confuse younger students, without a whole lot of explaining by parents.

I would definitely say that even though the chapters are small (4-5 pages each), you might want to stick with the 2 semester course schedule. Each chapter has some pretty in depth discussion and I really think you need one on one discussion with parent or teacher, for better application and learning. And that means that the additional Teacher's Guide for the course is pretty much a must have!

I have taken many Ethics and Logic courses over the years, and I think this is one of the most succinct courses I have seen! Everything your student needs to become a reliable thinker and effective defender of the Truth are here! I would really suggest that ALL High School students take the course as part of their religion component, as it goes hand in hand with Apologetics. Plus the logical reasoning they learn will help them in their math and science classes, and maybe help them write a killer college essay!

This book is a great introduction to logic! I ordered it for my son to use during 10th grade. It is easy to read and understand, has a really nice look and feel, and I love the key terms/definitions section in each chapter. The diagrams/illustrations really make trickier concepts easy to grasp. I think this book will spark wonderful discussions on false arguments, but more than that, I think my son's eyes will be opened to how many logical fallacies are floating around him all the time. I want him to get a good foundation in recognizing and refuting incorrect logic before he heads off to college. I love that this Logic book has a biblical basis and includes quite a bit of scripture.

Learning about logic can be boring and a non starter for many kids who do not love school work. Jason Lisle has done an amazing job creating a fun, colorful, easy and yet complex logic curriculum in "Introduction to Logic". I was impressed with both the quality and content in this text. True to his style Jason has used people familiar to most students ie Star Trek's Mr. Spock to make connections that intrigue students and peak their interest and understanding. It teaches logic from the perspective of God being the author of Logic - an amazing place to have students start their search to decide for themselves what they are going to use as a measuring stick for their own logic and choices. I highly recommend this for students to get a great biblical worldview foundation on how to use logic to make wise choices.
