Product Description

This five-week small group resource helps spark spiritual conversations.

Starting spiritual conversations with those outside of the church is a worthy, yet often difficult and intimidating task. Intersect was designed to help overcome those barriers. It is an easy-to-use resource, perfect for sharing with co-workers, friends, neighbors, and family to enter into meaningful conversations.

Five individual believers recount their faith journey and tell authentic stories of the circumstances that have forced them to examine how God might fit into their lives. Each film is accompanied by thought-provoking questions designed to encourage participants to examine the world in which they live and the life theyre pursuing, always ending with a conversation on how Jesus intersects the current topic.

Allow this powerful new film resource to engage those you are in relationship with and then propel them forward in their next step with Jesus.

Rob Peabody and Cris Rogers bring us Intersect distributed by Kregel Publications in association with Awaken Movement brings us Where Your Story and Gods Story Converge.

From the Back Cover: Starting spiritual conversations with those outside of the church is a worthy, yet often difficult and intimidating task. Rob Peabody in Intersect gives us features five short videos featuring people who describe actual situations in their lives and relate the impact their view of God had on their reactions and decisions. The goal of the DVD is to take us on a journey that will explore deep themes that we often experience in our lives. The five videos are: One: Expectations, Two: Rest, Three: Disappointment, Four: Trust and Five: Control. In a small group every week the group can see one of the videos and answer questions regarding what was seen. This would work for those in the church and for those outside as well. I recommend this DVD highly and further recommend it as a great gift for friends and family.

Intersect is a five-part Bible study intended for small groups. In each drama-driven episode, a question is asked that is meant to be pondered throughout the week. Personally, I felt like it was a little strange. I didnt connect with it at all and I thought the questions were quite bizarre.

If you are looking for a solid Bible study with a lot of depth, this is definitely not for you. If you want something that looks cool and modern without much to it, then I would recommend. I guess Im old school, but I still think that the way to grow people closer to Jesus is through his Word and lots of it. Flashy acting and trendy video style doesnt win hearts.

Thanks, Litfuse, for offering this DVD series. As always, this is my honest opinion. Heres to many more.

I really liked the videos relevant stories from real people that anyone can relate to. Maybe you havent experienced exactly what these 5 individuals have, but I bet youve gone through something similar. Or you will. Or you know someone who has. Another great thing? The videos are short! Just a few minutes in length but boy do they contain some powerful stories and some important questions.

Which brings me to my next point the study guide. This is a small booklet that provides a handful of questions for each video, questions designed to be springboards into possibly deep discussion. Intersect seems to focus on our core beliefs about God and how they affect our view of life. Questions like If God is good, what could you gain from handing over your expectations in life to him? and If you knew that God was for you, how would you respond to disappointments?

Perhaps the best part about this small group resource is its appeal and application to a wide variety of spiritual backgrounds. Fantastic as a safe place to start for a group of never-churched or mad-at-churched, it could also entice very key discussions in a group of native-churched. (Terms are mine lol.) The beauty of its design is the freedom that comes with it.

Bottom Line: Wonderful resource for small groups of any level! From teens to senior citizens to everybody in between, everyone will be able to find a story to relate to in these videos. The core questions addressed in the study guide are so imperative in taking our view of God and applying it to how we view our lives.

(I received a copy of the DVD and study guide in exchange for only my honest review.)

Ever wanted to have a tool to engage your neighbors and friends in deep conversations? Worried about how to start those conversations? Intersect by Rob Peabody and Cris Rogers creates the perfect opening for those very conversations. It's a great resource for anyone interested in hosting a small group that goes beyond the surface and that opens the door for spiritual discussion.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first popped this DVD in but I was pleasantly surprised by what it had to offer. With sections dealing with things like disappointment and trust, I appreciated the fresh approach to starting a conversation.

The short videos, well done and creative, each follow a shared story told with honesty and openness. The diversity of backgrounds of those who share spans from a stay at home mother to an ex-con. It's about realness and the truth of what we all face in an easy to understand context that isn't overly Christian (in respect to the language used). I liked this fact because, living in a spiritually-adverse city like Washington, D.C. I can see how these videos could be helpful for opening doors to talking about faith and personal beliefs.

A few gems I took on my first listening:

"Real life is not a dream." - Rest

"The suffering that we experience might not be the wrath of a divine being but the chaos and evil of the broken world." - Disappointment

I'd definitely recommend these videos to small group leaders. They discuss topics that are relevant to most ages and people of all walks of life. I would recommend that the small group leader listen to them first. Because of the nature of the videos, the elements of faith are less overt (though not ignored) and I would advise being prepared with a few scripture references to go along with the stories that are told in the videos. You can also check out the Intersect website for more interactive material and more information.

Each short video discusses thought-provoking topics, along with questions to answer. I think this would be great for older teens and twenty-somethings, for small group study, just like the group my oldest son was in back when we still lived in Florida. It might even be great for him now, along with some of his co-workers, or my daughter and her friends. I will probably share it with them.

The brief study guide that comes with the DVD will prove helpful, for anyone who wants to lead out the small group. If you are a youth leader, you may want to check this out.

(I received this DVD with study guide from LitFuse Publicity for free in exchange for my honest opinion and review. Thank you!)
