Claiming that in this politically charged era we have lost sight of the explosive New Testament gospel, Viola challenges believers on both the right and the left to embrace unparalleled allegiance to Jesus---and launch a spiritual revolution. 320 pages, softcover from Baker.

Publisher's Description

Why does the allegiance that radical terrorists give to their false cause exceed the allegiance that most Christians today give to Jesus Christ?

In Insurgence, bestselling author Frank Viola presents a radical proposal for Christians. Namely, that we have lost the explosive, earthshaking gospel of the kingdom that Jesus, Paul, and the other apostles preached. Viola argues that we've lost this dynamic, titanic, living gospel and exchanged it for a gospel of religious duty or permissiveness and "easy believism."

In today's politically charged era, Christians on the progressive left as well as the conservative right both equate their particular viewpoints with the kingdom of God. Viola challenges and dismantles these perspectives, offering a fresh and revolutionary look at the gospel of the kingdom.

Viola writes with gripping power, challenging Christians to embrace an unparalleled allegiance to Jesus Christ and his kingdom. This high-octane message is being reclaimed today, launching a spiritual insurgence.

Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a man who has believed in our Lord Jesus Christ for more than 70 years and for more than the past 40 years I have been seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

What was your motivation behind this project?  1 Peter 2:15 So is the will of God; that with well doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. 1 Peter 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but with a ready mind

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  John 17:3 That they may know you Father the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you sent

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  Psalm 17:10 When my father and mother forsake me, the Lord shall lift me up. I first heard and believed at 41/2 years old. John 8:31 Jesus said to those Jews which believed in Him: If you continue in my words you are my disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. We cannot serve God without knowing and understanding the truth. Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing. Therefore get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding Proverbs 28:5 Evil men understand not judgment, but those who seek the Lord understand all things. False prophets (foolish men) have knowledge, but they lack understanding, and they tell others that it is impossible for anyone to understand all things while in this life Evil men cannot serve God and many are unable to know every tree by his fruits. Anyone who does not understand shall not be able to escape from being deceived.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Psalm 27:10 When my father and mother forsake me, the Lord shall lift me up. My influence is our Father which is in heaven through our Lord Jesus Christ. He put it into my heart to seek Him and He has given me to understand the fear of the Lord. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths 7 Be not wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and depart from evil. Unless we understand the fear of the Lord we shall lean only on our own understanding and are wise in our own eyes.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  BibleGateway has been a valuable resource in my seeking God. Your passage and key word search is of great help when I desire to use a reference to the scriptures. My bible is separated from the binding and the bottom corners of many pages are "worn" off. I am not yet an author or artist and except that the Lord has led me to this page I would never have known about it: for I did not seek to find it on my own. I am continuing to make my calling and election sure. 2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore brethren, give all diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall. Many say that the world is going to hell in a hand basket. If this were true. what makes them think they are not going along with it. Many say: America better wake up. If this were true, are those who say such a thing awake and everyone else asleep? If they are awake, shouldn't they be able to awaken all who are asleep. Where are the followers of Jesus Christ John 8:12 I am the light of the world. He that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 12:35 Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have light, lest darkness comes upon you; for he that walks in darkness knows not where he goes. 36 While you have light, believe in the light; that you may be children of the light.
