Calvin was only 28 when he wrote this work and it was at a time when politics and religion were completely dominated by the papacy in Rome. It took courage and conviction to write and publish something like this and it's incredible that the Lord gave Calvin such a clear understanding of Holy Scriptures at such a young age.
