This is an excellent and foundational work. It is the magnum opus of Rousas John Rushdoony. There are three volumes. Volume One deals thoroughly with the 10 Commandments, how they have been historically applied and how they should be applied today. The second volume "Law and Society" deals extensively with various aspects of Biblical Law as it relates to society. The third volume "The Intent of the Law" discusses just that, the intent of the Biblical Law.It is a modern heresy that Biblical Law has no relevance today. Humanistic and evolutionary thought have infiltrated Christian thinking. It is essential to get back to the basics of what God has commanded. These books, along with Rushdoony's "Systemic Theology" should be in the library of every believer.

This is a great introduction to Christian Reconstruction. If the reader has not heard of them, this is the place to start. Some of the topic may be unduly criticized (such as Sarry above), nevertheless a good read and worthy of a bookshelf. Along with this I recomend Theonomy in Christian Ethics, by Greg L. Bahnsen.

Rush took the "first use" of the OT Law (a usus politicus) to its logical conclusion - that, aside from modifications in the New Testament, all the OT Law is still binding upon the Christian and society. This is terrifying to unbelievers and not a few evangelicals. If you're willing to put your beliefs to the test, it's worth a read. Even if you don't agree with his thesis, he sheds light on many of the more perplexing Torah laws. Rush is sometimes hard on fellow Presbys, and even the Reformers, but that's par for the course in controversies like this.

Rushdoony is not accurate and takes things out of context and proportion. This is not a Biblically based book, but a man's opinion. Two sections deal with women not being allowed to have certain rights as well as racism - not allowing blacks and whites to marry. I do not recommend this book!

Dr. Rushdoony's great work needs to be read by all who consider God's law important. This was one of the first works of the so-called "Theonomy" movement and Rushdoony's works are still a great blessing and provide intellectual thought that is so very needed in today's church. While I may disagree with him over a few points I consider this a "must have" book.
