As a leader, Washington did not seek personal power or privilege. His acceptance of the leadership of the new army and of the new nation came with humility, faith, and trust in God. Whether in business or community, religion or family, the qualities of leadership that he exemplified can inspire each of us. We should seek out and encourage the best of Washington's qualities in those that lead us today. Role models, including teachers, parents, community leaders, and elected officials can demonstrate compassionate leadership everyday for our children to emulate. Recommended for ages 4 to 8. Running Time: Approximately 45 minutes, Dolby Digital Stereo. Directed by Richard Rich, former Walt Disney Productions director.

HartwellAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good with explaination...November 6, 2011HartwellAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3I agree the age is probably set too young. My 5 year old son had some trouble understanding some things. However, I used this movie as a supplement to our study on George Washington so both my kids were able to grasp what was going on in the movie. I think it is a good tool. This is a true life story, of COURSE there are going to be things (guns, battles, sickness, even drinking, though my kids didn't know that they were drinking anything bad). If you watch this movie with your kids and explain to fill in the holes it's great! And I think it was OBVIOUS that Washington was praying.
Mrs. Morrow2 Stars Out Of 5April 4, 2008Mrs. MorrowI don't understand how it won all those awards. Characters drink wine and brandy, men are shot, and die from disease (both on screen) - the age recommendation is definitely off. Besides that, the story is fragmented at best. We see brief sketches of the war, but no unifying theme, no reason for the war, no real idea of victory. Many men are featured and are hard to keep track of. No mention is made of God (or even Providence), though in one scene it could be assumed that Washington is praying. My children didn't "get" it, and my husband and I were just not impressed. We won't be buying the other titles in the series.
