Charles Dickens. William Shakespeare. Garrison Keillor. Theyre all part of the chorus of literary geniuses who expressed admiration for The Parable of the Prodigal Son as outstanding literature. After all, it is a powerful drama, rich in detail, powerfully succinct, and intensely personal. But beyond the literary critiquesbesides being one of the most celebrated written works of all timethe message of this parable is one we cant afford to ignore.
In The Prodigal Son, John MacArthur takes the story back to its roots, when Jesus words were absolutely revolutionary. As one of Americas most beloved Bible teachers, MacArthur leads us through the minefields of interpretation and restores the simple yet profound brilliance of this passage. Giving engrossing historical background, The Prodigal Son will reveal Christs original message as intended for the Pharisees, the disciples, and the world today.
Gain an enlightening perspective into the prodigal sons story and embrace Gods love anew with The Prodigal Son.

DougEDougAge: 25-34Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Great insight into the parableMarch 30, 2011DougEDougAge: 25-34Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5John MacArthur has taken me deeper into this parable then I have ever gone before. He takes his regular easy to read, insightful approach and applies it here as well as he has in any other book that I've read. His book is eyeopening to sin that is in my life. And he clearly explains what Jesus was trying to relate to his audience of the pharisees and ultimately to us through this parable. Read it, study it, and pass it on to others that want to understand this scripture better.
Greg Anderson5 Stars Out Of 5September 5, 2010Greg AndersonFinally, I understand the meaning of this parable. John brings out the cultural background to us and explains what Jesus taught when He gave this parable is exactly what it means today. If you don't have this book, buy it. I have given several copies as gifts and people rave over it.
Rodney Butler5 Stars Out Of 5August 13, 2010Rodney Butleri have found that this version of the two sons is very insightfull. too much attention has been focus on the one son who chose to leave, none on the son that stayed.
Paul Herrick5 Stars Out Of 5June 2, 2010Paul HerrickA must read and have for your own collection. Brings out many points we in today's generation would not know. A book you can not put down till it's read.
