Konrad Krabill5 Stars Out Of 5The Insanity of GodOctober 9, 2019Konrad KrabillQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We read this aloud as a family and could hardly put it down! We laughed and cried and were challenged and blessed. Real people, real problems, real God, real faith. If you only read a few books, this should be one of them!
Rutie5 Stars Out Of 5AwesomeOctober 3, 2019RutieAfter reading the reviews at the beginning of the book I was inspired and ready to have my socks blown off with reading the book.
Although initially I thought the book was a slow start , once I read further into the book my socks indeed did get blown off but in somewhat of a 'quiet, Holy Spirit' way!
The message was powerful and thought provoking.
It caused me to reflect on my own Christian life and desire more passion.
It challenged me to look deeper into being obedient to God.
It gave me more of an understanding of the power of prayer and worship music.
This would be a great book to read and discuss in a book club setting.
Mark Newell (actual name)5 Stars Out Of 5A book that will change your lifeMarch 27, 2019Mark Newell (actual name)Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This title may sound strange, but if you dont read this book, you are the one who is insane. This is a page turner, but so intense that you must stop to reflect and pray as you read. Ripken writes of being totally broken and despairing after many years serving the Lord in Somalia where there were fewer believers at the end than when they started. This was during the days recounted in the movie "Blackhawk Down." After returning to America, he and his wife embarked on a plan to learn from persecuted Christians all over the world. "Insanity of God" tells these stories and what Western Christians can learn from the persecuted church around the world. Read this and read it well. Then read Ripken's second book "The Insanity of Obedience" which fleshes out the implications and which will raise many pointed questions that all believers need to face. Will we really be obedient to God or not? I dare you to read these books. You can find two interviews with Ripken on vomradio.net from February, 2019 which are well worth listening to.
