Excellent Movie with Outtakes and Lessons Included

I was surprised people said the acting was not very good, and that it started out slow. To me, the film was setting the stage for the time period. This film reminded me a lot of going to the country to visit my grandparents when I was a kid.
The movie is somewhat similar to the Little House on the Prairie series but a different place and setting.
The movie is historical in feel. It teaches not only the love of God, but it gives a feel for the struggle of whether to be involved in a war effort. It teaches how a family should pull together to solve problems. It shows struggles through children's eyes.
One thing not mentioned by anyone in the reviews is the movie includes a separate section about the making of the movie that can be used as additional lessons, and is set up that way. It talks about all of the people it takes to make the movie and how each of those groups of people are related to the love of God.
It talks about how they changed things to make them fit the times, the fact the movie was actually set in Texas with the Texas humidity and how they worked through that. It gives a couple of scenes that were left out of the movie and why they had to do that. They talked to the children in the movie. It was their first time to be in one.
I loved the movie, and I passed it on to someone who had older children. One of them saw me later and said how much she enjoyed the movie.
A little slow to start with, but I did enjoy the fact that the family had to search and found what the love of God meant. I liked how the family pulled together as a family and the leadership of the parents with a strong faith. It reminded me of how it must have been for my grandfather, who was a minister, (in the 20's) with ten children in the family and how they all worked together to make a living. The acting was not that great, but the message was good. The song is beautiful.
The amazing interaction between the siblings is one that should occur more often in movies. A good example of love and forgiveness is shown. Also appreciate the definite need of a personal commitment to God as portrayed by the young boy/man.
