Author Bio

DIANNE CHRISTNER lives in New River, Arizona, where life sizzles in the summer when temperatures soar above 100 degrees as she writes from her air-conditioned home office. She enjoys the desert life, where her home is nestled in the mountains and she can watch quail and the occasional deer, bobcat, or roadrunner.   Dianne was raised Mennonite and works hard to bring authenticity to Mennonite fiction. She now worships at a community church. She’s written over a dozen novels, most of which are historical fiction. She gets caught up in research having to set her alarm to remember to switch the laundry or start dinner. But her husband of forty-plus years is a good sport. They have two married children, Mike and Rachel, and five grandchildren, Makaila, Elijah, Vanson, Ethan, and Chloe.  She welcomes you to visit her website at http://www.diannechristner.net

Kristin Billerbeck is a bestselling, Christy-nominated author of over 45 novels.  Her work has been featured in The New York Times and on "The Today Show."  Kristin is a fourth-generation Californian and a proud mother of four. She lives in the Silicon Valley and enjoys good handbags, hiking, and reading.

This is a story of such courage (two women venturing out in the redwoods of CA. logging community for writing purposes.), monumental task of getting Meredith's Dad, Faith (trusting and believing that GOD is in the midst of all the troubles and joys in the lives of Meredith's, Jonah, and Meredith's Dad), reconciliation(the love and renewal of a true relationship with forgiveness between Meredith and her father). The creation of something new - the creation of conservation. What better thing to do but to conserve the art-manship of GOD and his handiwork. The romance and true love that tugs at the heartstrings and warms your heart just makes you want to pull up the covers and sip on a hot chocolate and cuddle up and read on...What more could you ask for? Except for an exceptional ending that you will warm the heart even warmer than the hot chocolate.

The second novella is about Rachel who is a teacher at the insistence of her Stepdad in the redwoods. He made her get a job far away from her mother and brother - to a logging town full of gossips, self-righteous, and jealousy and her faith is the one thing that she can truly rely on through the whole thing. She finds friends and a love in Dylan but what happens next is what takes your heart away. This novella takes your breathe away I received a copy of the book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

Two young women out of their element in northern California logging towns, find adventure, heartache and tender romance in these interesting novellas. Set forty years apart, the heroines share similar circumstances: remote logging towns, misunderstandings within the communities, difficult families, and the need to search for a deeper meaning through it all, as they pursue their careers.

Themes of pride, the prevalence and destructiveness of gossip in small towns, mistrust and communication difficulties between men and women, plus the need for a firmly rooted faith seem to tie these two tales together. I enjoyed the second one a lot, set in 1863 in a redwood forested logging town. The characters seemed to be very genuine in their struggles. The first story set at the turn of the century featuring a NY city reporter was good too, as she followed a bumpy road to life and love. There is a solid spiritual thread in both stories that made them interesting and inspiring, along with the settings of the beautiful forests of huge redwoods and descriptions of the logging operations. It brought back memories of visits to the Sierras and coastal redwood forests I visited when living in California many years ago.

Recommend to historical Christian romance fans.
