About The Reformed Expository Commentary Series:
The Reformed Expository Commentary focuses on the English rendering of the biblical text, and thus does not address concerns of the original language nor academic technicalities. Rather, proceeding section-by-section it focuses on the narrative flow of the biblical book, while drawing out significant points or theological emphases in the text, and then applies them to the daily life of the Christian.
The various points addressed range between historical events taking place within a books narrative, or upon significant doctrinal statements that are made. The application or "guidance" section as the series calls it rounds out each of the particular emphases from the text making it a complete expository volume. Each commentary approaches the text from a Reformed theological perspective, and can be used profitably for either study or devotion.

The Incarnation in the Gospels is an unusual book: a commentary, but on a theme rather than a particular Bible book. It deals with the incarnation, Christmas, in Matthew (The Hope of Israel), Luke (Songs for the Savior) and John (The Coming of the Light). The authors are Reformed in their theology, reliable in their understanding of the passages, and all of them fascinating writers. This book will be a great help to pastors preparing series of Christmas sermons and to lay believers trying to distinguish the real biblical teaching from all the Christmas fluff.
Here is exposition modeled by pastors with scholarly gifts and scholars with pastors hearts. Exegetical and theological reliability, redemptive historical sensitivity, a Christ-centered focus, and contemporary practical applicationthese are the promised hallmarks of the series. May it serve as a model to encourage and enthuse a new generation to love the Word of God and to rediscover the life-transforming power of expository preaching!
