(Though admittedly, Hadley blushed every time he looked in her direction.) So why was his sudden suicide so painfully shocking? Hadley attends Archer's funeral, and on the way out the door, she meets a strange individual. Death. He offers her a deal: go back in time 27 days and change Archer's decision. Hadley takes the deal ... but there will be consequences.
The first thing I noticed about In 27 Days (aside from the gorgeous cover, of course!) was the fact that it was previously published on Wattpad, a website and app full of free fiction. I say, go Alison Gervais, a Wattpad success story!
Anyway, back to the review. I enjoyed In 27 Days. I made me think. My old roommate said once that her friend was depressed, which made her miserable to hang out with. So my roommate cut ties with her. I thought, yeah, it's good to take care of yourself ... but what if that was when a friend needs you most? When they are down and depressed. What if that was when they needed someone to stick it out and be a friend no matter what, because that is what true, loving friendship is.
That is what Hadley did for Archer in In 27 Days. She had to start from scratch, befriending someone who pushed everyone away, though he desperately needed someone to show they cared. It was beautiful and inspiring. Definitely difficult for Hadley, but she was up for the challenge. It's easier to keep pushing back when you know someone's life is on the line, I think. Though it is by no means easy. And it was harder for Hadley because of some of the "things" trying to keep Archer wanting to commit suicide.
Basically, I think this story was done well. It addressed the suicide question well and had a great romance and compelling plot. I really enjoyed it. And I highly recommend it.
