Publisher's Description

IMAGINE...
The ocean swirled around the boy and pulled him down with unrelenting power. Heavy water churned and tugged at his flailing body like unseen hands yanking him into the watery depths. The fight was finally over. Even though he’d tried to stand up to the enemy, the waves were about to swallow him whole.

The last thing ten-year-old Corey remembers (before the world as he knew it disappeared) was the searing pain in his head after falling while chasing his dog Molly into the woods. What happens next can't be explained as Corey wakes up and finds himself face-to-face with not one but two lions!

Join Corey and experience the excitement. . .the wonder. . . the adventure. . .as the epic story of Noah’s ark comes to life.

Imagine. . .The Great Flood is the first release in an exciting, brand-new epic adventure series for kids ages 8 to 12 written by schoolteacher and missionary, Matt Koceich. The Imagine series brings the Bible to life for today's kids as they ponder what it would be like to live through a monumental biblical event.

Editorial Reviews

"I couldn’t be more proud of Guild alum, Matt Koceich! He had a dream, persevered, and would not be denied. Enjoy this result, and may it be only the first of many."
—Jerry Jenkins, Novelist & Biographer, Owner, The Jerry Jenkins Writers Guild

"Matt Koceich's Imagine. . .The Great Flood is some of the best biblical historical fiction I've read. The story takes us from modern-day America to Ancient Mesopotamia. . .and ties together neatly the link between faith in God and trust in people we love, regardless of apparent circumstance. I look forward to the next installment."
—Kaci Hill, screenplay writer and Ted Dekker’s coauthor of Lunatic and Elyon

"Matt Koceich does a masterful job of lifting readers out of the boredom of everyday life, dropping them head-first into a fast-paced, action-packed world of Bible adventure."
—Phil A. Smouse, author and illustrator of over fifty books for kids including Jesus Wants All of Me, the children’s adaptation of Oswald Chambers’
classic devotional, My Utmost for His Highest

"Imagine. . .The Great Flood is nonstop action in an epic Bible adventure! A well-known story like Noah’s Ark comes to life through the eyes of 10-year-old Corey Max with all the wonder of God’s creation and the evil forces that want to stop God’s plans. (Spoiler alert: God wins!) Boys and girls who like the I Survived books will love this action-packed tale."
—Annie Tipton, author of the Diary of a Real Payne series, including the award-winning title True Story

"The distinct Christian worldview is refreshing in a genre that, at times, can be diluted in an attempt to draw a larger audience. Young readers who want a fun, clean read will be curious to see what comes next in the "Imagine" series."

I found this story to be awesome. I believe kids would love the view of the Great Flood. A wonderful adventure back in time for 10 year old Corey. After a fall running after his dog Corey wakes to 2 Hugh lions beside him. Adventure of Noah and the flood. Things weren't so bad now the thought of moving compared to what he is going through now. How will he ever get back home. This story is wonderful. It kept me glued to the pages to see what was going to happen next. Very well written. First I have read by Matt Koceich. Look forward to more of his books.

The thunder is crashing, the lightning is brightening up the dark sky and the rain seems to be coming down in sheets. This is my world as I am reading the story of Corey and the Great Flood. It is not hard to imagine how disoriented he must have felt. As we follow with him through his vivid experience, we once again are reminded that God has everything in control, if we will just leave our fears and worries with Him! This is Biblical fiction at its best!!

Biblical scholarship takes many forms, but one thing is certain: the younger the student, the more time he or she has to learn the stories and wisdom of The Holy Bible. It was with this in mind that author Matt Koceich began his Imagine series, books aimed at eight to twelve year olds and designed to make those tweens and teens picture themselves in biblical situations.

First in the series, Imagine: The Great Flood begins in present-day Texas. Ten-year-old Corey is walking his dog Molly accompanied by Coreys mother. Despite the beautiful day and the chance to run with his dog in a well kept park, Coreys mind is bothered, and his heart is heavy. His family is planning a move to Florida in the coming week, and he fears the unknown. The prospect of making new friends, getting used to a new school and adjusting to new circumstances is daunting to Corey even though theyve been preparing the move for two months. Sensing his unease, Coreys mom counsels him that even though the circumstances of our lives change, God never changes. Corey listens carefully to his mothers words but doesnt really believe them.

Just as Corey is throwing the ball towards the woods at the edge of the park, he hears thunder in the distance. When Molly doesnt return, Corey and his Mom go after their pet so that they can get home before the storm hits. The last thing he hears before tripping over some tree roots as he chases Molly is the dogs fearful bark. The next thing he hears are the words, Open your eyes before waking up in a strange setting. The woods are gone as is Molly. In fact even his mom is missing in this strange new landscape. Corey watches as the leaves and twigs hes accustomed to seeing change to gravel. He knows hes not in Texas anymore.

Corey gets up and brushes himself off, checking for injuries. As he turns in a circle to try to figure out just where he is, he sees a huge male lion just a few feet away. Corey turns to run the other way and comes face to face with another lion, this one a female. Beside the second lion is a man holding a leather lead and a staff who calms Corey saying that the lions will obey him as long as he holds his staff. Corey believes the mans words and soon learns that this is Shem, oldest son of Noah. Why is it easier to find trust in this unimaginable situation than it is to have faith that God has a plan for him in Florida?

Matt Koceich has crafted an exciting and very readable book that children and teens will love. The stories of the Bible come alive in the series, and Im looking forward to the second installment.

IMAGINE The Great Flood by Matt Koceich is a wonderful book for children from about 8 to 12 years old. The book can be read by the child, or you can read to them; this makes a great read and discuss book.

Although it is a work of fiction, The Great Flood is based on the Bible account of Noah and the flood. Mr. Koceich . There is plenty of action throughout the book to interest the reader, as well as life application. Join Corey as he suddenly finds himself meeting Shem, the son of Noah and assists in guiding pairs of animals to the ark. Their way is hindered as Corey finds himself in one adventure after another.

I am looking forward to giving my grandson a copy of this book for Christmas. I sincerely hope there are more IMAGINE books coming. I enjoyed this book myself.

Imagine The Great Flood is a juvenile fiction book recommended for ages 8-12. I read this with my 6 year old first grader and he really enjoyed it. He was excited to read from it every night. The flood is one of my son's favorite stories - and he enjoyed seeing it through a "kids" eyes. Corey is a 10 year old boy who is well written and enjoyable. The author did a great job relating to the age range that he was writing too. The book is an easy read, and we read over a few days at bed time. My son at the end of the book said to me "Mom, we need to trust God no matter what!" I was so proud.

    I enjoyed this book also.
