I was purchasing the 'comedy' DVD because I wanted to use it to cheer up folks. Unfortunately, dare I say it Chonda was both 'preachy' and 'judgmental of other Christians'. She runs through a list of her achievements and her rubbing shoulders with the Hollywood crowd and then discusses her first national TV appearance on a show hosted by a lesbian comedian. (I only know of the show's host because of her marriage in the media to another woman, etc etc). Chonda spends a great deal of time about how the lesbian TV host tells Chonda she is the 'first Christian who has been nice to her' and from there Chonda scolds and insults Christians including those in the audience for not being "good" Christians. Waiting for the humor? So was I. There wasn't any there. It was about judging Christians as failures and believing the lesbian woman's statement that no other Christian has every been nice to her. Chonda rambles on how the TV host was pleasant to her and then comes back around again to slam Christians for not being nice folks. Since I bought the DVD for HUMOR and an escape from the world's social agenda --- the DVD did NOT meet my expectations. Extremely disappointed and NOT useful to share with others to cheer them up. Bummer...wasted my money and got more insults tossed at me....the DVD belongs in the old trusted "Circular File". I gave this a 1 for NOT meeting my expectations; Product Value a 1 --- if there were negative ratings I would give it that. Don't buy this DVD if you are looking for someone to bring positive thoughts and humor to the viewer.
As another reviewer said, it was a little more serious than funny. I've seen Chonda in person and watched several of her other stand-up acts, but this one was more like she was truly on her "soapbox." The first 20 minutes or so is hilarious, but than it's more of a sermon/lecture about how we as Christians shouldn't judge one another. That being said, I only paid $5 so I wasn't out a lot of money.
