Publisher's Description

The stares, the mocking laughter, the hurt, and the pain; this is one woman's journey of learning that being fat really does matter to everyone. In "I'm Fat and Nobody Cares," Kathleen Frank tackles the many issues that face people who battle obesity and the reasons why they do. This is the author's personal testimony of how she overcame sexual and emotional abuse, her constant struggle with weight and how she was able to find the Lord amidst every temptation to turn against Him. Through her own battle and heartbreak, Kathleen attempts to uncover the roots of this rampant issue and bring to light the pain that she and many others have experienced through weight gain. She sheds light on the real reasons why many people have become obese and how there is hope for them. The author could have very easily used this book as an outlet for her emotions, anger especially, but instead this book is very tactfully written. A rough childhood, two bumpy marriages with one ending in an affair that changed her life forever, Kathleen details her own struggle of weighing over 330 pounds and how through the love of Christ and the practical implementation of His Word in her life she has been able to come to terms with her weight and believe God for a miracle. Kathleen Frank is a world-renowned speaker, author, and trainer in the area of communications. She is a wife, mother of three, and has four grandchildren. Kathleen carries a strong and real message of God's love, grace and acceptance. With over 35 years of experience in communications, she is able to effectively convey the message God has given her. In doing so, she has seen many who have, like Kathleen, lived with abuse and was set free by her remarkable story. Kathleen is currently focusing on establishing her ministry, Restoration Life Foundation where she desires to see women and young girls restored and healed from all of life's wounds.

Tell us a little about yourself.  I'm in communications, travel globally helping companies improve their customer service and marketing dept. I have published a few books for my industry. McGraw-Hill is one of my major publishers. I'm a mother of three children and grandmother of 4+1 on the way. They call me Nana; of course I trained them to say that! I love my family and friends and hold them very close to me. I love to entertain in my home. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was 15 yrs old and seriously walked daily with Him for the past 21 years.

What was your motivation behind this project?  When I was a child, my father sexually abused me. Thereafter I felt like a target and was abused by other men. I developed a weight problem and later realized I was using weight to shield myself from being noticed by men. I never had an eating problem I had an emotional problem. After a number of inner healing sessions and while writing this book, which initially was a journal to put my feelings on paper, I got healed and set free from the affects of the abuse. Within a few months after completing the book I lost 100 pounds! I didn't diet to lose it, it was through my healing experience!

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  To educate people that being fat isn't all about food or being lazy, it can go much deeper than that. Even people who don't have a fat problem have an image problem that often stems from trauma in their life. My primary goal is to help others get set free from their abuse so that it no longer holds them back from their God given destiny.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I was able to forgive those who abused me, realized where God was during that time, and gained a greater understanding of who I am in Christ. Even when something bad happens to you, God will find a way out to benefit you and glorify Him. I was able to be free from the emotional pain of abuse and not only shed 100 pounds of fat but emotional baggage I was carrying deep within me.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Joyce Meyers, because she experienced what I had and much of how she describes her life sounds like mine. I can relate to her.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  I'm just a regular person that was cheated in life. But through it all, I crawled out of my circumstances and made something of myself. Although I tried for many years, I could never have done it without the Lord helping me all the way, once I allowed Him to. Through my journey I experienced a 180 degree turnaround, but it took a lot of bad decisions along the way to get there. Once I allowed God to help me, and recognized my past does not have to dictate my future, that I have the ability to be anything I want to be, that was the start for me and it can be for you too.
