Be sure you have plenty of time to read and all the books in this series before you start. Casey Cox is on the run. She found the body of her good friend, Brent, stabbed multiple times. She cannot trust the police, so she leaves town, in fear of her life. Dylan Roberts was a friend of Brent's since childhood, though they hadn't seen each other for a couple of years so he doesn't know Casey. Dylan was an investigator in the army, honorably discharged recently because of PTSD. Brent's parents hire him to find Casey, since she is the prime suspect. Casey is a character easy to be sympathetic toward. She is friendly and likes to help people, even when it is dangerous for her because she could be found. She doesn't like lying and being deceitful, but really has no choice. Dylan is also a very likable character, working the case with integrity, investigating on his own into Brent's death and also the death of Casey's police officer father thirteen years earlier, all while dealing with his PTSD. If you enjoy reading suspense, don't miss this series.
I received a complementary copy of the book from the author, but this did not influence my opinion. All thoughts are my own.

Casey is being sought for what she knows about her fathers death and now about her boyfriends death as well, who just happens to be the police - so where do you run to when it is the police who are after you - who are the bad guys? The ones who are suppose to protect you and are out to kill you or charge you with your boyfriends murder. It is the ultimate betrayal.. Dylan was a criminal investigator in the army with PTSD - now he is hired as a PI to find Casey by her dead boyfriends family - he meets her and feels she is innocent 0 she gets away (not that he was keeping her). He starts to look into the murder himself while he hunts her down. Does he see what the police do? Is Casey safe? Who is helping Casey? Is it enough when you have the whole police department after you? What has Dylan learned to help her or did it? I received a complimentary copy of this book; all the opinions in this review are all my own.
