Oh, my goodness! Be sure you have plenty of time to read and all the books in this series before you start. Casey Cox is on the run. She found the body of her good friend, Brent, stabbed multiple times. She cannot trust the police, so she leaves town, in fear of her life. Dylan Roberts was a friend of Brent's since childhood, though they hadn't seen each other for a couple of years so he doesn't know Casey. Dylan was an investigator in the army, honorably discharged recently because of PTSD. Brent's parents hire him to find Casey, since she is the prime suspect. Casey is a character easy to be sympathetic toward. She is friendly and likes to help people, even when it is dangerous for her because she could be found. She doesn't like lying and being deceitful, but really has no choice. Dylan is also a very likable character, working the case with integrity, investigating on his own into Brent's death and also the death of Casey's police officer father thirteen years earlier, all while dealing with his PTSD. If you enjoy reading suspense, don't miss this series.

I received a complementary copy of the book from the author, but this did not influence my opinion. All thoughts are my own.

If I Run is a story of mistaken identity, loss, running for your life, isolation, and trusting someone your not sure you should. Casey is being sought for what she knows about her fathers death and now about her boyfriends death as well, who just happens to be the police - so where do you run to when it is the police who are after you - who are the bad guys? The ones who are suppose to protect you and are out to kill you or charge you with your boyfriends murder. It is the ultimate betrayal.. Dylan was a criminal investigator in the army with PTSD - now he is hired as a PI to find Casey by her dead boyfriends family - he meets her and feels she is innocent 0 she gets away (not that he was keeping her). He starts to look into the murder himself while he hunts her down. Does he see what the police do? Is Casey safe? Who is helping Casey? Is it enough when you have the whole police department after you? What has Dylan learned to help her or did it? I received a complimentary copy of this book; all the opinions in this review are all my own.

Casey Cox is running for her life. She's been accused of brutally stabbing her best friend and is in hiding until she can prove her innocence. After receiving a mysterious package from her deceased friend, Casey believes that dirty cops are behind both his murder and her father's. Meanwhile, Dylan Roberts has returned from his deployment oversees to learn that his childhood friend, Brent, was murdered and that Casey is the primary suspect. Brent's parents hire Dylan to track down Casey and bring her home so justice can be served. But the more Dylan investigates the murder himself and gets push back from the detectives working the case, the more inconsistencies he finds. Although he's on the hunt for Casey, Dylan questions if she's Brent's real killer.

Blackstock presents readers with a thrilling and intense page-turner in If I Run. Danger follows Casey everywhere she hides. Readers are given bits and pieces to the mystery of Brent's murder along the way creating additional suspense. The alternating first-person accounts of the drama provide a unique prospective. I felt however, that the "Laura Daly" point of the plot was a little out of place. Rather convenient that Casey happened to see that newspaper in the background of the photo....and what would possess her to investigate Frank's house based on something seemingly so insignificant? If it wasn't the vehicle used to get Casey and Dylan's paths to cross, I would just say that Casey had a very active imagination. It seemed that this part of the story was only added to give the reader something more to digest. Overall, If I Run provided a good foundation for this series full of danger and excitement.

This review contains my own thoughts and opinions. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher.
