Tell us a little about yourself. I work in the music industry as a musician and author. I have written books as well as band arrangements for young concert band for elementary through middle school level players. I even have a concert band arrangement of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" called "Batter Up!" and that is in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY in the printed music and recoreded music division! I have given workshops for Alfred Publishing Company at Homeschool conventions in Southern CA, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida for over 8 years and by God's Grace I am also a Homeschooling parent and am working on establishing an instrumental program in our area of Valencia CA. I give private lessons as well.
What was your motivation behind this project? For many years doing music workshops at Homeschool conventions especially, many parents were asking for easy guitar hymn books for their budding players but nothing was really available at the beginning level that was musical. I came up with this at the many requests for easier guitar hymns that a first year student could easily play.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? A fun and easy way to play their favorite hymns as they progress as a guitarist.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I am a classical musician by trade. I have performed with many chamber groups and orchestras throughout Southern California and Eastern Pennsylvania.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: My heart is for those who wish to develop a love for music so my hope is that this guitar book will be an encouragement to all who play out of it. I hope to write many more books geared for beginners so they can enjoy every step of the blessing of learning music!
