AlaskamomAlaskaAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Refreshing!June 12, 2018AlaskamomAlaskaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Holy Hustle has such a powerful message & so much practical help for how to work hard for Gods purpose and then, confidently rest well in His grace.
Here are a couple snippets of truth from inside Holy Hustle: What you begin in faith, God will finish with a flourish. (page 61); Holy hustle is about changing our thinking from Whats in it for me? to How can I serve? (Page 107); and Although we might be the last ones to cross the finish line, our hustle is no less holy than the one who crossed first. (Page 146) ... This book is so encouraging!
I did receive a complimentary book, but my review is not based on this perk. -
Academy2525 Stars Out Of 5A Much Needed Message!June 10, 2018Academy252Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Crystal Stine introduces us to a more balanced scriptural way to approach our lives. There must be balance. We must do the work God calls us to do... not more and not less... not what the world tells us to do.... just what God tells us to do in whatever season of life we are in. If we work too hard or rest too much both extremes can be damaging to us. This approach is nothing new but it is something that is not talked about much... we see all of this in scripture. God's way of doing business and daily life should be all about living a life surrendered to Him and His purpose for our life. If we live out His plan instead of our plan or the world's plan there is joy, success, and true rest.
In scripture we see people working hard for what they want to accomplish. We are told not to be slothful... if you don't work you don't eat. Work is important and our own individual work is important to the world around us. God has a role for us to fill while we are here and we should seek to fulfill that.
We do need to work hard but we are also commanded to rest. We need time to recover from the busy and the stress and take time to be holy... to be with our families... to take care of ourselves by taking care of the body.... eating right, sleeping well, exercising, spending time with God each day. All of those acts of rest/care are important, too.
Crystal addresses ALL of these issues. This book is a balanced approach, not only to business owners, but to women and men everywhere no matter what their work is... homemakers, volunteers, employees and employers alike. This is an important message.
Crystal shares loads of scripture with us to bring our focus upon pleasing God with our work and our rest. The end of each chapter has a passage for reflection and pages to write your own thoughts, prayers and goals to accomplish these things.
This book is designed to give information, reflect upon spiritual truths and to share with others as you study together. It is a valuable book many of us can glean from in a variety of ways. I encourage you to pick this one up and begin your journey to a more balanced life. A life that will glorify God and bless those around you. Our ultimate goal is to bring glory to Him.
There is only one thing I would change about the book... I would not use the Message Paraphrase as a main source for scripture references. If you read anything by me you know why I feel that way. That being said, it is still a fantastic message and I highly recommend the book to anyone seeking to please God through their work each day.
This book was given to me free of charge through Harvest House Publishing . I have been asked to read it and be honest in my review of it. You got my full honesty here! I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. -
NKT5 Stars Out Of 5Highly recommend Holy Hustle!June 8, 2018NKTQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I devour books. However, I made my way through Holy Hustle slowly and intentionally. Crystal Stine's message left me with so much to reflect upon. This book was a wonderful reminder that work has value, and so does rest. I learned from Holy Hustle that it is okay to say no to the good things in life to be free to say yes to the one special thing God has planned. Furthermore, I loved the Bible applications and the chance to journal provided in Holy Hustle. I highly recommend this book to anyone who finds it difficult to find a healthy balance between restfulness and hustle. I received an advanced copy from the publisher and bought one for a friend. This is my honest opinion.

ldschock5 Stars Out Of 5Holy HustleJune 7, 2018ldschockQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Holy Hustle came at a perfect time in my life. I had been struggling to find a balance between family and work. I felt guilty working because I worried I was neglecting my kids, but if I just played with them, I felt like I was being unproductive and wasting my time. I picked up this book because I wanted a healthy balance so bad. I wanted to fight off all the guilt I was feeling and step into healthy work/rest balance.
Not only did this book speak truth and life into my heart on the work/rest balance, it also lifted me up out of a lie I was believing. The lie that my work wasnt good enough, or big enough. Crystal spoke to my heart in ways I didnt know it needed spoken to. She spoke on the truth that whatever work we do, if it is for the glory of God, it is important, significant, and enough. It doesnt matter how big or small from human eyes it is, if it is for Gods kingdom it is important.
When I first picked up this book, I assumed it was for working women. That is not the case, this book is for every woman out there because we all work whether that work is paid or unpaid. This book is for the stay at home mom to the working business woman. I recommend it to every woman because not only is it easy to get caught up in too much rest or too much work, can also believe the lie that our work isnt good enough.
I love this book because the content is amazing and speaks so much truth, but I also love it because of how it is structured. In every chapter Crystal includes a Holy Hustle story from someone, scripture to dig deeper, and a reflection section with journaling space. Not only do you read this book, you interact with it. If you are a woman struggling to find balance between rest and work, this book is for you. But it doesnt end there, this book is for every woman out there because it is a book on much more than just work and rest. It weaves scriptural truth into our daily lives in an incredible way, and is a push of confidence to move us forward in our calling in Gods kingdom. -
Hannah5 Stars Out Of 5Work and Rest Belong TogetherJune 6, 2018HannahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Hustle is what the world is all about. Work hard, get noticed, keep working, and you will eventually be the best. Once you have worked your way to the top you have to hustle to remain there. How do we find this coveted holy hustle this balance between working for Gods glory and rest? Crystal knows this struggle well. She has struggled with it in every job she has found herself in. Through lessons she has learned and resting in truth Crystal has found that Holy Hustle is not only achievable, but it is what we are called to as children of God. I have read many books on working passionately for Christ and books on soul care, but this is the first book I have encountered that puts the two together. This book is for the striver, server, dreamer, doer, cautious heart, and restless spirit. We can both work with purpose for a purpose and take the time to care for ourselves. I did not want this book to end, so it will now be added to my yearly book list. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone that struggles, the way I do, with work and rest. This is an excellent book for a summer study with your girlfriends.
