Publisher's Description

There is a tendency today to associate revival and miracles with charismatic churches, but there were none of those in Nagaland when God first brought revival there. These powerful and life-changing visitations came to orderly, conservative Baptist congregations. As a result, Nagas found their true dignity not in themselves, their ethnic roots, their head-hunting, or the defense of their homeland, but they discovered it in the person and life of Jesus Christ, the living and one true God. This is a moving story of bravery and betrayal, suffering, persecution, supernatural intervention, and subsequent human weakness.

What I got out of this was the fact that when God works, it cannot be stopped. He will get ahold of His people and awaken them. Some characteristics of the revival in Nagaland: Miracles beyond expectations (some of which I had never heard of happening, but were consonant with the character of the Holy Lord.), intense suffering, fervent prayer, faithful preaching of the word, and finally a sober institutionalization that is currently happening as the modern world chokes out the earlier love of the Lord. It is sad how so often revival will grow the church and then social conformity will set in and the church will melt back into the world's mold. Paul wisely closes with an exhortation for the reading world to reflect on the need for ongoing revival in the West as well. Revival is scary & costly, but the alternative is mortal.
