A beautifully illustrated Christmas story presented in paperback for the first time. We've all heard the story of the three wise men who brought their gifts to Baby Jesus. But what about the camels who carried them? Here is the story of Humphrey the camel and his long, cold journey to Bethlehem. Humphrey has lost his blanket and schemes to acquire a new one. When the party reaches its destination, Humphrey is so drawn to the love surrounding Baby Jesus that he finds himself selflessly giving his new blanket to the Christ child. Carol Heyer's rich acrylic paintings showcase the quirkiness of the camel and add humor to the story. Here is a book that both entertains and informs without ever straying from the meaning of the holiday. Ages 4-8.

Ei5 Stars Out Of 5Loved This Book!January 5, 2017EiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After looking at this book for over a year, I finally ordered it and was not disappointed. It met my expectations and the end of the story was very touching. I loved the illustrations and the humor. I just wish I had a young grandchild to read it to.
deeker5 Stars Out Of 5quirky and funNovember 19, 2016deekerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4The wisemen's story? No--this is the camel's story. Humorous, imaginative, delightfully illustrated. True to the biblical narrative--except this book like so many sends the camel and accompanying wisemen to the manger and stable. Bible clearly states they found the "house" and the "young child." Why not get it right? Other than that detail, this pompous and complaining camel recognizes and worships the Christ child. Children already familiar with the Christmas story will enjoy this. I got it for my almost 5 year old.

They liked the story, the pictures and the humor included. Imagine Humphrey complaining about the three small boxes he was carrying as being such a great burden and so heavy! The humor was not missed by the little ones. They plan to read it together every Christmas, as an example of giving willingly, as the Christ child did.
