    HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE

    Rose Publishing

This 8.5" x 5.5" pamphlet folds out to 33" in length. The cost is $3.99, although if you purchase a large number, the price will be reduced. For example, if you buy 50, the price is reduced to $2.99. Even at the full price, this one is a bargain.

It is an excellent introduction to the study of the Bible and would be useful in a class of new Christians who are learning how to study the Word. The first page gives 9 reasons to study the Bible from learning more about God to finding comfort and hope in the study of His Word.

Bible study principles and different methods leading to a fuller understanding of God's Word are given. It encourages Bible students to look beyond what is found in the scripture by learning history, geography, and culture of the time. All this is done in simple language so it could be used for younger students (middle school), high school students, or someone who is just beginning to study the Word.

The authors stress the Bible as not only a book of historical events and stories, but it is also a guide to daily living. Some basic Bible passages and books a beginner might want to tackle first are suggested. Tools for Bible study (concordances, software, Bible dictionaries, and other helps) are briefly discussed. It then suggests some books that would be good additions to a Bible reference library. Here a broad range of publishers are mentioned so students can find ones that are more closely aligned to their church's views of the Bible.

The 2 best features of this pamphlet are its brevity and its simplicity. However, these two advantages mean it may not be the right fit for advanced Bible students. For advanced students, I would suggest a Rose Publishing book, Christopher Hudson's Self-Guided Tour of the Bible.

Rose Publishing gave me a pdf copy of this pamphlet, but this is an honest review.
