How to Spell builds upon the premise that studentslearn to spell by saying and copying words, sounds and sightwords. Students work individually to reinforce what they'velearned, with pages repeated until students havesuccessfully learned the next lesson. Teacher instructionsare printed in small print at the top of the page. Mostlessons include reading the sound and key word, whichstudents memorize before moving on to additional words withthe same sound; finally students make and copy the words,saying them aloud; additional types of activities areincluded as well.
