Product Description

When you became a Christian, you discovered the joy of hearing God speak to you in a personal way. But often the purity and freshness of that initial experience with God gets clouded by the daily routine of life. The clamor of other voices obscures your hearing, leaving you confused and frustrated with your relationship with God. In How to Listen to God Dr. Charles Stanley helps you to rediscover how to distinguish God's voice from all the voices around you, and how to joyfully and obediently respond. Dr. Stanley uses personal experiences from his life and ministry to discuss: why God wants to communicate with us, how God gets our attention, how God communicates with us, and how to listen to God and enjoy His presence.

The book wasn't bad. It introduced to you all the logical ways of listening to God, however, it didn't quite meet my expectations of exactly how you go about it. I think the mere fact that the author (a very good one) has had decades of fellowship with our Lord has made him forget what its like to be a new christian and that its a bit more of a struggle. New christians need instructions and aide at their level. I had already been doing many of those examples and the advice I received was to be patient and wait on the Lord. Our experiences with trusting in Jesus through our trials and practicing the instructions in the book will bring us into fellowship with God. But it will take time. Its not an overnight success. The book is good but sort of leaves you with this feeling of its really easy and in no time you'll hear from God. God is already talking to us, we have to learn to tune our ears to Him. Not a quick an easy feat. Use the book as a teaching tool for a lifetime of fellowship. Don't be dismayed if you don't hear God right away. You will.

Most people know how to talk, but few know how to listen. This book is the best I've read on the subject and I've recommeded it for years- I've personally purchased over 20 of them and given them to people who needed to know. Very practical and insightful.
