No single event in human history has received more attention than the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. In this book, Adam Hamilton guides us through the last twenty-four hours of Jesus' life. Each chapter is designed to help the reader experience and understand the significance of Jesus' suffering and death in a way you have never done before. Whether readers are long-time Christians or simply curious about the story of Christ's crucifixion, they are invited to join the author in retracing the last 24 hours of Jesus' life. Although 24 Hours that Changed the World will be used as a Lenten read or in a Lenten study, Adam Hamilton's name and the important subject matter will make this book an important read anytime of the year. Adam Hamilton is pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, one of the fastest growing, most highly visible churches in the country.
LoganNew Zealand4 Stars Out Of 5Good Easter ListenJanuary 17, 2012LoganNew ZealandQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4What happened in the 24 hours that changed the world? This is an account of the last 24 hours of Jesus' life before his crucifixion. The author has taken the account from Mark's Gospel and fleshed it out with the other biblical accounts where they have something more to contribute.
Essentially the format takes a look at the biblical account and expands it to help the listener fully appreciate each event within the time frame. From the last supper and Gethsemane, through to the cross the listener is taken into the midst of them all. Then there is a reflection on each event which is designed to bring the reality home.
While I have some minor issues with various statements within the book it is still a very solid work that will be useful for anyone to read especially leading into Easter.
The audio book is well narrated however I do wish there was some way around the regular referencing of biblical passages. While it is comforting to know how much the author used scripture directly every reference disrupts the flow.
I received this from Christianaudio.com for an honest review
