I noticed the most recent review was last year and felt compelled to write a review. I am highly pleased with the Horizon's kindergarten math books! I tried Abeka with my son first and after finishing the kindergarten level, felt it did not thoroughly cover concepts. So made a lateral switch to the Horizon's kindergarten math curriculum. We just finished it and now have started the first grade books. My son loves math and I enjoy the continual spiraling of content and ease at which my son can complete his daily math lesson.

Takeaway- As a former public school teacher turned homeschool mom, I am highly pleased with the Horizons math curriculum. The lessons are a one page, front and back, and move at a decent pace to keep your child engaged and continually learning new concepts. I am not a fan though of the Horizons phonics and reading for kindergarten.

The phonics lessons are a little too long and repetetive to hold my 4 1/2 year olds interest. We just break each phonics lesson into two parts. So 1/2 phonics lesson to 1 full math lesson.

I love these math workbooks! They are colorful, fun and engaging. The reason for giving it only 4 stars ironically is because of how they teach the number 4 formation!! I don't know anyone who write their fours like this: 4, yet that is how they teach it in this workbook. I prefer my children learning their fours the mainstream way, you know: "down and over and down some more, that's the way we make a 4." Please, please, please correct this Horizons!!!

While we have not started using this book yet, the quality and colors are excellent. It is user friendly & laid out well. We are excited to begin our homeschool journey with such wonderful books!
