It seems a little advanced for first grade but certainly within the grasp of a normal 6- 7 year old child. My little boy frequently asks to do more pages than I had planned on doing,

She thought she was "stupid" at it. This curriculum helped her gain confidence as it introduces new concepts and gives practice (but not too much) on old concepts. Other curriculums beat the old drum too much and cause students to get bored.
I also like Horizons for their color and faith content.
My son used horizons and went right from 6th gr. math to Alg. 1 I heard later that Horizons was an accelerated math.
