Momof4MnAge: 35-44Gender: female2 Stars Out Of 5Very time consuming to use.September 6, 2012Momof4MnAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I don't think this product is very homeschool user friendly. It is definitely not the open and go type curricula that I expected it to be. This curriculum is geared more toward classroom use. I have been extremely disappointed is the lay out of the lessons. As a busy homeschooling mom, that works outside the home part-time, I really do not have the time to prepare for the next days lessons.
I have 2 boys doing 2 different levels of Horizons Health and the material is such that it is impossible to teach them together. If I could present the material just once to both of my children it wouldn't be nearly as time consuming.
That being said the content is good and I like the workbook activities that go along with the lessons. I just wish more info was written in the student books for the child to read instead of the teacher having to present it and spoon feed the students information.

It is useless for me and once you open the shrink wrap to find all this out it is nonreturnable!
Carmen Mendez5 Stars Out Of 5September 4, 2010Carmen MendezGreat health curriculum, even for parents who don't homeschool. This curriculum is great for teaching children the importance of saying no to harmful drugs. It can also encourage them to stay sexually pure.
Celia1 Stars Out Of 5May 2, 2009CeliaLast spring, before it was even released, our co-op decided to use the grade 5 Horizon's Health for co-op this school year. We were excited about a Christian health program for younger ages. We trusted Alpha Omega. We pre-ordered the teacher's manual, text, and corresponding workbook. When they finally arrived in the fall, we were greatly disappointed. The text was very public school oriented, discussing topics that the schools feel is necessary. Topics such as smoking, inhalants, drugs like marijuana and cocaine, your s3xuality, s3xually transmitted diseases, etc. We used them, but we ended up pulling in a lot of outside material and skipping large sections of the text.Maybe I have my head in the sand, but I didn't feel my oldest (11yo) needed all that information at this time. I certainly don't want her kept in a bubble, but I'd like to shield her from some of this stuff a while longer. I know, for co-op, we'll never use it again and I if I ever consider using it at home (which I sincerely doubt) I certainly would never buy it again without first carefully looking through it.
