LucyWVAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Adventurous JourneyOctober 17, 2019LucyWVAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A powerful and poignant read that has a lot of action to keep the story moving. What a great beginning for the new Hearts of Montana series. It will have you on the edge of your seat one moment and swept away in the budding romance the next. Add a dog, a spunky little boy, and mischief making and you have a well rounded story. My favorite part was the growth in Micah as he learned to rely on God after having tragedy and heartache that he couldn't get past. Ingrid is a strong willed woman who also possesses inner strength from the Lord that draws you into her world of coping after loss. The characters are very real and endure much. I could feel every bump and cold that penetrates to the bone, as the writing was so descriptive and well thought out. I hated for it to end as it was that engrossing. Can't wait to read book two.

ConnieKentuckyAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Wonderful Christian Fiction!October 17, 2019ConnieKentuckyAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is a strong reminder of the horrible hardships that our forefathers suffered. Smallpox epidemics that claimed both young and old. Traveling by horse and wagon across dangerous terrain. Snow covered mountains and freezing temperatures. Uncertain futures and living alone in the wilderness. Hope's Highest Mountain has all of this but it also offers characters that have tremendous integrity and perseverance. I was touched by Ingrid Chastain as she dealt with loss and injury and the realization that she was now alone. I admired her determination to deliver smallpox vaccine even though it meant suffering intense physical pain and I felt her frustration when Micah Bradley at first refused to help her. I also understood his reluctance because Micah's heartache and tragic past had been caused by this horrible epidemic.
Author Misty M. Beller's descriptive words have painted a vivid picture of the snow covered mountains in the Montana Territory and the possibility of freezing to death before help can arrive. I could almost feel the pain of broken bones with no pain relief available and the despair that smallpox might claim yet more lives! She does, however, show the comfort that can be found in prayer. Prayer is a big part of Hope's Highest Mountain and faith runs deep in the storyline. There is also a reminder that it is only through acceptance and surrender to God's Plan that we can truly find hope and comfort.
And did I mention romance? Micah and Ingrid experience a strong attraction but he carries so much personal baggage---is there a chance for 'happily ever after' for them? I am so glad that I could read this first book in the Hearts of Montana series and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure and romance.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Bethany House and a positive review was not required. These opinions are my own.
nkwbookreviewer5 Stars Out Of 5Inspirational Page TurnerOctober 17, 2019nkwbookreviewerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Hope's Highest Mountain written by author Misty Beller is a Christian Historical Romance and Book one in her new Hearts of Montana series. Set in the Montana Territory in 1866 this book caught my attention within the first few pages and kept it until the end.
Author Beller is a spellbinding storyteller. This book was well planned, researched, and very well written. Parts of the story were predictable but others had twists to keep readers on their toes.
This is the story of Ingrid, daughter of a doctor on his way out west to bring most needed smallpox vaccines. It is also the story of Micah, a formerly practicing doctor. Tragedy brings them together and keeps them needing each other.
The characters in this book were so likable. It seemed as if I had made some new friends. I particularly loved that it had a little boy and a small pet dog. They both brought something to the story. Through her writing the author brought them to life on the pages.
There is a strong Christian message throughout the book. For me that is a high priority in a Christian fiction book. I learned a few things, too, which is another priority on my list for what makes a book great. There are discussion questions to help with digging deeper into the faith message.
I highly recommend this page-turning novel. It is a very good book. I was entertained, inspired, and captivated. It gets a 4.5 out of 5 stars from me. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.
LifeofLiteratureGender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Great Setting!October 16, 2019LifeofLiteratureGender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I had not yet had the pleasure of reading anything by Misty M. Beller, but I was entranced by this novel and am eager to read more by her. The rugged and formidable Western setting was a great backdrop for the achingly tender romance in this story. The author does a breathtaking job of describing the harsh elements and the beauty of the mountains in the winter. I really liked Ingrid and her strong faith that allows her to survive tough trials. At times, I did think that her behavior was a little unbelievable, such as overcoming a tragedy with a family member early in the book remarkably quickly, but I do not think this detracted from her as a character. Micah is also a wonderful character, with strong qualities that make him a true hero. I think at times the plot feels repetitive with multiple tragedies that set Ingrid and Micah back again and again, but the ending wrapped up wonderfully. Overall, I did enjoy this book and look forward to more by this author!

DaniellesWritingSpotAge: 25-34Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Historical Fiction in MontanaOctober 16, 2019DaniellesWritingSpotAge: 25-34Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I love historical fiction and a story set in late 1800s Montana is for sure going to be among my favorites.Hope's Highest Mountain,by Misty M. Beller, follows the journey of Ingrid Chastain and Micah Bradley as they attempt to deliver vials of the smallpox vaccine to a mountain town battling the epidemic. However, injury, illness, and weather threaten to keep them from arriving in time.
Ingrid Chastain has lived in Boston her entire life, but leaves the comfort of home to deliver aid to Settler's Fort. The daughter of a doctor who also studies vaccines, she must carry on his mission after tragedy strikes. Something she is unable to do without help.
Micah Bradley used to be a doctor. Now he lives as a mountain man, clinging to solitude. He cannot turn away, however, when a young woman is in desperate need of medical care. Will he be willing to give up his plans so Ingrid can accomplish hers?
I enjoyedHope's Highest Mountain. It was not as suspenseful as I usually like to read, but Ingrid and Micah's journey was anything but dull. I especially liked how weather and injury played a role in making travel difficult. Most of all, I truly admired the incredible character of both Micah and Ingrid. They are worth emulating.
If you're looking for a cozy read on a chilly fall day, I recommend Hope's Highest Mountain. It will take you on a journey full of challenges and a bit of romance.
