GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5The Rescue of Dr. OzDecember 2, 2022GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Dr. Oz, Phil Osbourne, was seriously injured in the first book of the series on a mission in Africa and is only mentioned occasionally after being loaded on a helicopter for the trip to get him medical attention. I enjoyed getting reconnected with him in this story after he has gotten settled back in his hometown. Admittedly, he is not one of the most lovable characters, but he has a tremendous story. I especially like the role that Drumstick and Pot Pie play in the story. Using those names almost makes it sound more like a comedy than a romantic suspense, but their role is far from comedic. Melissa has also lived through some serious trauma in her life; as a matter of fact, so serious that it directed her education and choice of a career path. That path has her in a perfect situation to help her sister who is married to an abusive husband. Probably, when you read the book, you will agree that he went far beyond abusive. The story moves rapidly with great action, excellent dialogue, and moments of romance. Woven into all of this is the good news of the Gospel that brings health and healing to those who are open and seeking. Melissa's sister is in serious need of emotional healing as is Dr. Oz. Read the story to see what happens.

mDavSeattle, WAAge: 35-44Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5My fave in the series!December 18, 2022mDavSeattle, WAAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I literally read this book in a day and a half. (Great that I had the time already; if I didn't, I'd have made the time, lol.) It's gripping from page 1, and kept me guessing as to how it'd all play out until the very end.
Naturally, given the topics (domestic abuse; drug cartels), it was not a light and fluffy read--but I do appreciate the light Bridgeman shines on it--a terrible reality for many people, men and women and children alike. I came away from this book very grateful for those involved with safe houses; it truly is a 24/7, very taxing job--but so needed.
This was hands down my favorite book in the series. I loved seeing familiar characters from earlier books, as well as watching the MCs grow over the course of the read. Very, very well done. (And also not one to read before bed, both due to subject matter and the abject need to find out what happens!)
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own. -
KrisFairfax, VAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Stayed up way too late to finish this book - so good!December 17, 2022KrisFairfax, VAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Love the books by this author and this one was no exception as she skillfully weaves a story about a combat veteran and the woman he is afraid to love. There is open Christianity in the novel, but it seems so natural and flows in the story. The main characters, Melissa and Phil, each have baggage but again, it seems natural given what they have been through. This is the third book in the Love and Honor series, and although there are references to the main characters in the previous novels, you do not need to read the previous ones to completely follow the storyline. I loved this book and stayed up way too late to finish it. It has romance and action and twists: I highly recommend it! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I am freely writing a review - all thoughts and opinions are my own.

KimP5 Stars Out Of 5Action Packed!December 13, 2022KimPQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Honor's Refuge by Hallee Bridgeman is the third book in her Love & Honor series. Melissa Braxton runs a domestic abuse shelter. Phil Osbourne uses his contacts to locate Melissa's long-lost sister. He had no idea what kind of terror his compassionate act was going to unleash. This was a very intense story. The action was non-stop. Something new was always just around the corner.
I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.
