Editorial Reviews

A great read that is both realistic and hopeful about our evangelism, written by a man whom God has used mightily to spread the gospel. Every Christian will benefit from this. -- Rebecca Manley Pippert (Author of Out of the Saltshaker; founder of Becky Pippert Ministries)

A good and timely book that is rich in wisdom, grace and guidance. Challenging, liberating and above all encouraging. Read it ! -- J. John (Speaker + Author)

Honest Evangelism offers great inspiration without the ‘guilty’ factor being thrown in. Rico has written in such a way that makes the reader think ‘I can do this.’ You can read it by yourself or it would be great to work through in a group over a few weeks. Thanks to Rico for this gift to the Body of Christ! -- Steve Uppal (Senior Leader, All Nations Christian Centre, Wolverhampton)

Honest Evangelism is a fabulous book. It speaks to the head and the heart, it motivates the will to get to work in passing on the Good News through normal, everyday relationships with your team mates, friends and family. Get hold of it, read it and be prepared to cross the 'pain line'. It'll be worth it!Sport -- Graham Daniels (General Director of Christians in Sport)

I couldn’t be more excited about this hard-hitting, honest book on personal evangelism. Tice had me with his first story. I could feel the heat rising up my neck as he described the abuse his newfound faith attracted from schoolboy bullies. -- J Mack Stiles (Director, Messenger Ministries Inc.)

I try to regularly read books on prayer and evangelism, because both are so vital to Christian maturity and both are so difficult. The strength of this book is that Rico does lots of personal evangelism, and yet, he is very honest about how personal evangelism is still a struggle for him. A short book full of good encouragement. -- Kevin DeYoung (Senior Pastor, Christ Covenant Church, Matthews, NC; author, Crazy Busy and Just Do Something)

There are many books on evangelism. Has Tice done something here with this book to merit a read? Yes. The bulk of this book is focused on setting the reader’s mind on the power of the God who saves through his gospel and by his power, not ours. By developing that theology, Tice encourages his readers to share an offensive message with people they cannot convince on their own. In God’s wisdom, that is exactly the right message with which to encourage Christians. -- Austin Suter

If we are honest, none of us find evangelism easy and we make a lot of excuses. This down-to-earth, practical book provides us with useful tools to help us overcome our fear. -- Steve Clifford (General Director, Evangelical Alliance)

I read this through in one sitting - it is realistic, challenging and wonderfully helpful. I am anxious to get this book into the hands of my congregation. -- Alistair Begg (Bible Teacher, Truth For Life; Previous Senior Pastor, Parkside Church, Cleveland; Author, Pray Big and The Christian Manifesto)

Rico is one of the clearest and most faithful evangelists alive today, and no one is in a better position to write a book like this for cultures where the good news sounds remote and increasingly encounters hostility. I can't wait to use it. -- Michael S. Horton (Professor of Theology and Apologetics, Westminster Seminary, California)

We desperately need to read this book. It is compelling, as Rico calls us to be both realistic and courageous as we lovingly take the the gospel to a generation which is so reluctant to listen. Reading this book made me want to speak to my neighbours and friends about the Lord Jesus. ‘Honest Evangelism’ is the ‘Know and Tell the Gospel’ for today. I pray that every Christian would get it and read it! -- Gary Millar (Principal, Queensland Theological College, Australia; author of Saving Eutychus)

Honest to a fault and deeply challenging—but big-hearted, Christ-centred and wonderfully encouraging. That is Honest Evangelism, because that is Rico Tice—witness to sinners and equipper of saints. Honest Evangelism is a much-needed book from someone who knows what he is talking about. -- Sinclair B. Ferguson (Teaching Fellow of Ligonier Ministries; former Senior Minister of First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina)

There are plenty of "how to" books on evangelism—this isn't one of them. It speaks to the heart, engages with the realities of a hardening culture, and with genuine freshness faces me with my hurts and fears and encourages me to overcome them. -- Hugh Palmer (Former Rector of All Souls Langham Place, London)

Rico Tice has a love and passion for sharing the message of a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. -- Nicky Gumbel (Pioneer of Alpha Course)

This is what we have come to expect from Rico—passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus, endearingly diffident about his own experiences in doing so, and therefore winsomely attractive in encouraging every believer to play our part in winning this and the next generation's commitment to Christ. No one who reads this can be anything but inspired—but also practically helped to share our faith. -- Paul Perkin (senior pastor of St Mark’s Battersea Rise, London)
