Gregory AlanFortuna, CAAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent ResourceMarch 11, 2015Gregory AlanFortuna, CAAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Everything about this book is top quality - from the huge amount of comprehensive information, the clarity and professionalism of the maps, the many photographs, the interesting charts, the clear and concise text, to the printing/publishing.
It begins with an in-depth look at the geography of Palestine. Then it chronologically outlines the major events of the Old Testament, followed by an account of intertestamental history. For the New Testament, it focusses on the life and ministry of Jesus, then Paul's life and ministry. It ends with some information on the book of Revelation.
Although this is not a theological textbook, the nature of the material requires a theological stance. It is conservative, Reformed theology. It does not preach, but treats the miraculous and spiritual elements of the Bible as matter-of-fact, just as it treats the secular (extra-Biblical) material. In a brief section titled "Paul's Gospel," it succinctly but thoroughly presents the core Scriptural message beginning with Adam's sin, to salvation by faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, ending with the second coming of Christ.
The book does not have an index (an index would be unwieldy in a book like this), but the Table of Contents is detailed enough that an index is probably not necessary.
Note: I have the 2005 edition, and I don't know if the 2010 edition is any different.
