JeaniePhoenix, AZAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5You Are Being HeldDecember 9, 2022JeaniePhoenix, AZAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This fabulous book is the very best that I have read by Sheila Walsh! If you are not familiar with her, she is a Christian sister who is scripture-oriented and loves the Lord with all her heart. She talks and writes about certain challenges with scripture, compassion, and experience. Many people avoid talking about depression. Some even think that if Christians are clinically depressed, they do not have enough faith.
If you or someone you love suffers from depression, if it been the kind of thing that might leave for a long period of time and return, consider this book. Whether it is for yourself or another person, I have found the best time to read a book like this when one is doing well. If I waited to rush into a bookstore or online seller when I feel as if the floor is dropping away, and did not find something helpful quickly, I just might not bother. This time, I purchased the book, read the book, did the Bible study, and know the resource I have when I need it, or if a friend is suffering and needs someone to hear their heart.
Absolutely, God is my Healer. He speaks to me in the Bible. Just as in grief or twelve-step groups, there is much to be gained from listening to someone who has been there. That is one of the things Sheila Walsh is for me. She has been there, and she understands. She has had Christian counselors who hold out the light of Christ when the world seems dark. Ms. Walsh shares hope from the promises of God, the lives of those who lived in Bible times, and her own experience. For as long as I have heard her or read her books, she is transparent about her own struggles with depression and even, at times, suicidal tendencies. She also has a gentle sense of humor that brings relief - sometimes that we are not the only ones who forget to plug in the power cord before switching the button to the *on* position.
Ultimately, she points us to the One who is holding us, the One who hears us, who gave up everything for us to have heaven as our final destination. I highly recommend this book to anyone who lives with, or knows someone who lives with, clinical depression, who wants to know more about the God who holds us and find the sweet hope on which to hold.
My review for the Study Guide:
The study guide is meant to be used with the book of the same name, and, if available, the video series. Excerpts are included in the study guide. Questions are very fitting and thought provoking. Prayer is encouraged. As with the book, the author points to the Lord, our Healer, the One who holds us. She includes her own experience with honesty and transparency. I highly recommend using it, as it is very beneficial to the reader.

Sandi5 Stars Out Of 5holding on when you went to let go.October 14, 2021SandiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Sheila Walsh has done it again today she has written another BEST Seller , Sheila writes as if she is sitting With us at the dining room table or in living room Sheila shares her heart
Written during a pandemic of COVID , she found herself spiralling, downward into depression., She has suffered from clinical depression since she was 34 years of age, When she ended up in a Psychiatric
hospital , where she received some healing,
The book is a total of 10 chapters, The first 5 are about us holding on , the last 5 are about being held by Our Heavenly Father, She uses the Analogy of a jigsaw puzzle When we give God all the pieces , piece by piece we are made whole, She shares the final puzzle piece that she had been looking for , for a VERY long time, and she was not sure if she ever would find the missing piece
One of the quotes I like is. As believers in Christ we do NOT get what we deserve. We get what we DO NOT deserve. That is God IS GRACE
I would recommend this book to anybody who struggles (d)!with the pandemic of COVID or just life in general, We might not want to hold on, when you things get hard, Sheila reminds us that we can have hope By pointing us to Jesus
Cecilia5 Stars Out Of 5Heartwarming ReadOctober 13, 2021CeciliaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have loved reading Shelias books since I was a little girl! Gigi, Gods Little Princess was easily one of my favorites! Now, as a busy college student, I feel her books have grown with me! Its so hard in a crazy, secular world to forget what is truly important, faith in Jesus Christ. I myself have, so many times, felt like giving up when times become tough and doing the right thing seems impossible. Hearing Shelias story in this book touched my heart in an unexplanable manner. I feel understood and not alone in my struggles. I HIGHLY reccomend this book for anyone feeling less than, forgotten or ready to give up when the going gets tough. God is in your corner, and Shelia is, too!
