Publisher's Description

About the Hodder Bible Commentary

The Hodder Bible Commentary is a comprehensive 50-volume Bible commentary series. Doctrinally sensitive and globally aware, its goal is to encourage a deepened knowledge and understanding of Scripture.

Accessible and insightful expository commentary explores the timeless message of the Bible and applies it to the challenges of today's world. Written by a range of authors and supported by consultant editors from around the world, it represents a diversity of church and cultural contexts.

With the full text of the NIV Bible interspersed with the commentary for easy reference, this series is ideal for preaching, teaching and personal study.

Author Bio

Kirsten Birkett studied in Sydney, Australia and went on to work in Christian publishing there, before moving to London to lecture at Oak Hill Theological College and work in church ministry. After 14 years at Oak Hill, Kirsten now lives in Scotland where she is working on a second PhD in early medieval church history. She has written several books including Living Without Fear: Using the Psalms to End Your Fear and Anxiety and Imperfect Reflections: The Art of Christian Journaling.

Editorial Reviews

This commentary is particularly useful in getting us thinking about the overarching theme of wisdom and in providing a novel but very convincing structure for the whole book drawing together chapters that seemingly have disconnected sayings. It is going to be very useful for personal study and preachers working out how best to preach this kind of literature. -- Graham Nicholls, Director of Affinity and Pastor at Christ Church Haywards Heath
