Teach middle-school students (Grades 6-9) to write using the IEW Structure & Style method through assignments that also teach world history - - from the invention of the printing press to the prominent people of the twenty-first century.
This course is designed to be used by teachers who have been through the Institute for Excellence in Writing's Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar.
The course moves through the units taught in TWSS, helping students to learn to write from notes, retell narrative stories, summarize a reference, write from pictures, summarize multiple references, write inventively, write using formal essay models, and write a formal critique.
This teacher's manual provides a scope and sequence, lesson planning helps, vocabulary quizzes, and answer keys. Inset pages of the student book are provided along with teacher instructions, question answers, sample key word outlines, and helps for motivating students.
The scope and sequence suggested schedule covers 30 weeks.
This set includes access to a free download of the Student Resource Packet, which is a necessary component of this course, as well as the optional World History-Based Writing Lessons Reproducible Checklists eBook, Blackline Masters eBook, and Sample Key Word Outlines eBook.
