Sean Raleigh has given up and he's tired of the endless stream of nurses hired to aid him in his recovery - a recovery his doctor told him would never happen. And everyone and anyone within range of Sean is going to get the full range of his bitterness and pain. His plan works great until his best friend/roommate Carter Grant has a friend come to the area for a promised tour.
Jaclyn Dalton is unlike any other Christian he has ever meet. She doesn't look down on his disability with pity or avoidance and she seems to genuinely care about him as a person. But how could she or is she trying become his new physical therapist planted by his best friend and his father?
Jaclyn has her own wounds - her heart was broken by a man who cares only for his own pleasure and he doesn't care whom he hurts and destroys along the way. Until she can deal with her own damaged heart she cannot open her heart to what she and Sean could have.
His Wounded Heart is told from both Sean and Jaclyn's points of view and it is a story of the power of true Christian love in changing a heart. This is a book that is a quick read - I did it in one afternoon and found it an enjoyable afternoon escape as we are gripped in the arctic tundra that is making its presence known. -15* is definitely an afternoon for reading and this book hit the spot.

Sean has lose the use of his legs in an accident and is mad at everyone, including God. Jaclyn is the Doctor and PT who will bring him around. Sean has little use for those "Jesus-y" people. Jaclyn is different and he likes what he sees. She loves him unconditionally, just like Jesus does. She helps him to heal physically and shows him Gods love. The story choppy in places there is no smooth transition to the ending. I am curious to see how Sean finally comes to a relationship with Christ. I received this book from bookfun.org. and pelican book group for my honest review.
Mary HostLebanon County, PAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Good ReadNovember 29, 2013Mary HostLebanon County, PAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This story begins with Sean Raleigh throwing his shoes, one right after the other, at his nurse. Sean is very angry at God since his accident and is also in physical pain. He is quick to take his pain out on others, even giving his friend and room mate, Carter, a rough time when he tries to help. Then he meets Jaclyn, a Christian and a doctor, and they clash. She has personal experience with physical pain and rehab. She also needs a job and could help him if he would let her. I couldn't stop reading. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy inspirational fiction.
I received this book from bookfun.org in return for my honest opinion.
lcjohnson1988IndianaAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5November 8, 2013lcjohnson1988IndianaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5His Wounded Heart is a novel to enjoy in an afternoon, filled with romance and more. A young man disillusioned about God, faith and church is seriously injured. He is so angry no one person stays to help with the long term care. Of course, Sean wasn't helping matters any the way he would treat the help even when his friend took time off to help him with learning; Sean wasn't willing to bend. One thing he kept holding onto was his pride_.until.
The doctor has been working with him, and since her past heartache, she made a vow to keep a distance from any man who showed her affection. Jaclyn had a dream shattered too, so she was trying to still fill that longing through obtaining a job to be near her love of sports.
While Jaclyn and Sean are the main human characters, the novel really speaks to the readers about God being the One who loves us. In the pages, is a reminder of how people view God as watching others whether life is good or hard. I loved how the truth that the people, the church, can be an instrument of mirroring Him and are also faulty humans. When Jaclyn shows Sean an example he has never witnessed before, something stirs deep within Sean.
Jaclyn needs God to do a work in her heart too, and she submits to His loving hand. Here is an example of choosing to let God do work in us, for us and through us. While pain on the earth won't last forever, our relationship with Him through Jesus will and it anchors us through the tempests. During times when we are overwhelmed by our emotions or life experiences even what we see others going through, God speaks still.
His Wounded Heart contained pages that were filled more with God's romance and love for us than mankind can ever really understand. He reaches out to us, shows us the way to come to Him, speaks through the Holy Spirit to our hearts or minds; this is what makes God so amazing! Read and share this wonderful tale with anyone God leads you to, perhaps it will stir their hearts too!
MaryMinnesotaAge: 45-54Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5November 2, 2013MaryMinnesotaAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4"His wounded Heart" is a quick, lighthearted read. The story is about a man, Sean, that has been seriously injured in an accident and is in a wheelchair. Because he has been told that he will not be the way he used to be he has given up on doctors, physical therapy, friends and help. He feels worthless and hates the pity he sees in the eyes of folks when they look at him. Sean dislikes religion and has seen too many hypocrites to have a faith of his own.
Enter Jaclyn, a doctor and attractive lady, that totally loves the Lord and is open to His promptings. She knows God has called her to help Sean and she jumps in with both feet! Sean eventually sees her faith is very genuine and her love for God is unconditional.
I believe R. L. Syme did a nice job developing her main characters. I enjoyed (and understood) Sean's sarcasm, pride and sense of humor. I loved Jaclyn's strong faith and willingness to follow Christ. The descriptions of the mountains and fresh air were well written.
This book covers several topics such as prayer, faith, broken dreams, healing and forgiveness. I received this book free from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.
