The book was wonderful! I will admit I enjoyed reading the book more than listening to the CD. The CD lacks in giving justice to the character The Shepherd. The book was great in taking me through a journey of my relationship with Christ by following the character "Much-Afraid" through her journey with the Shepherd in the story. This is a great read and I would recommend it for all to read. The fact the book was written in 1955 and reading the book today is like it just came off the press speaks volume. Great book!
I have read this book before and was eager to listen to the audio book. The reader was good except when she read the part of the Shepherd. The inflections and tone of her voice seemed to make him sound harsh. When the book said He spoke in a tender, loving way, she didn't read it in a tender, loving way. The reader did a wonderful job with the other male characters but I was disappointed in how she read the Shepherd. Nevertheless, it is a great story and I would still recommend it to anyone who likes allegories.
I ordered the DVD by error but have read the book twice. I will keep it so my husband can listen to it. I had told him about it many times and the story reminded me of Pilgrim's Progress. It reminds us of our journey through this life ups & downs ,and keep trusting trust in the Lord.
