Hillbilly Hymn

    Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a novelist, essayist, and editor from Oklahoma and am the author of two books, "Hillbilly Hymn" and "Keep & Other Stories," both published in 2022. My interests range from fantasy to dystopian to literary fiction, and I'm also interested in culture, technology, theology, art, and music.

    What was your motivation behind this project?  I wanted to have a "romping good time," and invite readers in on the adventure. I was also tired of trying to write "serious" fiction, and so abandoned the attempt and wrote something I actually wanted to write.

    What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  A sense of wonder, delight, and humor.

    Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  My influences include C.S. Lewis, Neil Gaiman, Ray Bradbury, J.R.R. Tolkien, Marilynne Robinson, Jonathan Franzen, Wendell Berry, Flannery O'Connor, Anton Chekhov, Breece D'J Pancake, Drew Bratcher, Robert Frost, and Willa Cather. I've also been inspired by musical artists such as Coldplay, Of Monsters and Men, Kings of Convenience, and Switchfoot.
