Mills has brought cultural and spiritual differences to life. Her characters, along with their real-life struggles, will bring an instant connection to readers. Her expertise in story development guarantees High Treason will end up as a favorite.
Award winning author DiAnn Mills releases High Treason February 6, book three in her FBI Task Force series. The action-packed, romantic suspense includes the FBI, the CIA, a Saudi prince, and foreign intrigue wrapped in a mystery that keeps readers guessing until the last page is turned. . . .
[A] well-crafted, clean read that delivers an action intense suspense with authentic political suspense and a message of faith. The steady pacing and well-done characterizations contrast different cultures, times, and races with seemingly opposite operatives. Monica, a strong and compassionate female with trust issues and Kord, a dynamic, goal-oriented male who prefers not to work with women. Together they face growing danger, intrigue, and treason as their relationship morphs from intense dislike to respect and possibly love.
Fans of clean-read suspense, without explicit sexual content and bad language, will enjoy the romantic chemistry, the suspense, and the conclusion.
Mills introduces readers to stubborn but dedicated FBI Special Agent Kord Davidson in this formulaic Christian thriller. Saudi Prince Omar and his entourage of family members and diplomats are in Houston when an assassin makes an attempt on Omars life. Kord, who has grown close to Omar over years of service protecting him and other visiting dignitaries for the FBI, wants to handle the situation and find the would-be assassin on his own, so when CIA agent Monica Alden is assigned as his partner, he is less than pleased, even if he recognizes her charm. Monica, meanwhile, was betrayed by her previous partner and is reluctant to trust anyone. Though she slowly begins to respect Kord, they have big differences: she is a follower of Jesus, and Kord is a nonbeliever. But he is a searcher who contemplates spirituality, and Monica just might be the voice of an angel Kord needs. The moment Kords resentment turns to admiration, Monica wonders, along with the reader, Where did this about-face come from? Often, the writing relies on simplistic descriptions (Monica looks like a J. Crew model) and quick dialogue, and the characters are a jarring mix of bravado and sensitivity. Although predictable, this suspenseful novel will appeal to Christian readers looking for a tidy, uplifting tale.

High Treason is everything you'd expect with a title like that. DiAnn Mill has done it again with the intensity of the suspense. Filled with action and personality and culture clashes, this third book in the FBI Task Force, High Treason is a race to thwart an international incident when tensions are already high.
"Poke my heart when I'm about to mess up. And please pick up the pieces when I fall." (22)
The author have always done a great job weaving in faith messages in her high suspense thrillers. In this latest one, faith is in the forefront, and I find it interesting in how faith plays a role in our characters' lives. There's a level of respect for each other as humans, rather than discriminate due to religion. Refreshingly, the romance plays in the background where the idea of kindness and courtesy, teamwork and trust emerge ahead. In all, a thrilling and intricate story that continues the series in high fashion.
"Passing on smiles and encouragement provided optimism for her day and hopefully for the recipient." (5)

NadineTimes105 Stars Out Of 5Kept on My Toes From Start to FinishMarch 13, 2018NadineTimes10Quality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0With this book, I knew I'd have to settle in for a read that would take me a while. But as I've come to find with this author so far, no matter how long or short the read, there's not a dull moment in it for me. Whether it's high-stakes action, the thick of investigation, or engaging inward and outward dialogue as characters deal with their personal challenges and forge various relationships, I'm kept on my toes from start to finish.
I'm all for a heroine like Monica: sharp, no-nonsense, gutsy, and driven, but with a sense of humor, compassion, and a vulnerable side. I also appreciate that her inner conflict has complexity to it, that it's not just a token pain or a too-easy source for angst or drama.
And Kord is rather sharp himself. While I'm pretty sure the "missionary setup" will never be my preferred scenario for ChristFic romance (it tends to muddy up the couple's motives and makes the inevitable conversion feel trite, contrived, or both), I do like that the romance here isn't instantaneous or dripping with sap. The characters' tenderness doesn't make them lose their edge but rather enhances it.
Since this is only the third book I've read by Mills, it may be too soon to say she's my favorite romantic suspense author. Even so, I'm kind of scratching my head as to why I haven't read more of her books by now.
Tyndale House provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.
KaraAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5High TreasonMarch 6, 2018KaraAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5High Treason, by DiAnn Mills, is the third book in the FBI Task Force series. Set in Houston, Texas, it tells the story of an FBI/CIA task force put in place to protect a Saudi prince and his family.
FBI Special Agent Kord Davidson is with Prince Omar and his look alike body guard when the body guard and friend is killed. When a task force is formed and Monica Alden is assigned to team up with Kord, he is skeptical. But he soon learns that Monica is an asset to him and an essential for keeping the prince safe. With more attempts on the princes life and more people killed, Kord and Monica piece together every bit of information to find the person responsible. Monica befriends the princes sisters in an attempt to find out what they may know and keep them safe. When she finds the youngest sister secretly meeting with one of the princes staff, pieces of the puzzle begin to fall into place.
I enjoyed this book. I especially liked the was Monica was respectful to the Prince and his family and their beliefs while remaining true to her Christian faith. I also found myself fond of Fatima, even though she was originally very gruff and unfriendly.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading Christian suspense novels.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
