It's one of those books you just can't put down. Once I read it I wanted to read more books of Diane/David Munson. I just started the last book, Night Flight.
I like the way the same character carry over in most of the books. You get to feel like you know them. Really Really good books.

He loves his job and is extremely dedicated to it. As a result, his marriage is struggling along as is his relationship with his children. His current mission involves his recruit in China passing along information on a satellite the Chinese have secretly launched. When the satellite is discovered, the Chinese claim it is a weather satellite. However, the true purpose of the satellite is to disable U.S. satellites, which in turn disables trade and commerce and communications. Can Bo really believe his spy? Is this information legit? Or is his spy feeding him incorrect intel? To complicate matters, an old archeologist friend has gotten herself arrested in China while on a dig and put in jail there. Unfortunately for Bo, she knows one of his biggest secrets and if the Chinese find out what it is, lives will be lost. Bo now has to try to get Amber Worthing free while trying to verify his spys information. What more could happen? How about a child custody legal battle involving Amber Worthings young son? For me, this has been the best story to date from the Munsons that I have read. There was plenty of action, tension and suspense. The story was easily believable and could have come off the front page of any newspaper. It piqued my interest and was very intriguing. My only negative was that I didnt like one particular aspect of the main character, Bo Rider. While I admired his dedication and loyalty to his job, his courage and skill at his job, he put his job before his wife and children. He didnt seem to understand why they might be upset with him always being gone and leaving at the drop of a hat, never knowing where he was going or when he would return. It seemed as if he blamed them for any conflicts or negative emotions. I will be curious watch this characters development if he appears in other stories. Otherwise, this is a really good book that readers can sink their teeth into and immerse themselves. I hope to read Redeeming Liberty next and see what new adventure presents itself.

I was privileged to read this book from our church library. I am encouraging men, women and students to read this book.
Amber Worthing is an archaeologist who is working on a dig in China in the Loulan province when she is jailed in a Chinese prison. Amber has no reason to be in this prison and each day becomes one of more and more difficulties. Left to die basically, she calls upon her small faith and intense love of her son to keep her from going insane.
Bo Rider, a CIA agent, has lost contact with an important Chinese asset. What has happened to SOLO and why is Bo unable to reach him thru their very intricate means of communicating without being in danger. Bo has sacrificed much for his position with CIA but cannot yet seek a lateral move without locating SOLO.
The story takes many twists and turns and the solution is not what you would have expected at all.
Diane and David Munson are excellent authors who have drawn from many life experiences as a Federal Prosecutor and undercover DEA agent. Their stories are what they classify as factional fiction.

Therefore, I have to read it on my computer which is not very convenient. I would not recommend it to my "Kindle" friends.

I sort of gulped it and did not take time to review. It's fascinating and hair-raising and nail-biting and... you get the point. There is some vicious behavior, so be warned. But do not let that deter you from reading - you'd miss a terrific tale. I understand about the ending - yet somehow wish for it to be different. And the spook has my sympathy. No life, huh? The artifact has me wondering: Could something like it still be around - and found? In real life? Lastly I want to say how much I enjoy reading a 'clean' book. No cursing, cussing or foul language! Yeah!
I do hope the Munsons are working on a next book and that it will be out soon.

Tell us a little about yourself. We are Diane and David Munson, ExFeds, and writers of High Velocity Suspense that's based on our exciting careers in the Federal justice system. Diane is an attorney who served as a Federal prosecutor and also as an official in President Ronald Reagan's Justice Department. David is a former Federal agent who served with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Naval Investigative Service, now known as NCIS (just like the TV show). Much of his work as an undercover agent was dangerous and he infiltrated international drug smuggling organizations.
What was your motivation behind this project? Friends who knew about our backgrounds urged us to write a book about our exciting careers. When a Christian publishing company made the same suggestion, we decided to write Christian suspense novels. "Hero's Ransom" is our fourth and we wanted to weave a plot involving Chinese espionage and the impact on one family.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? It was our goal to write an exciting suspense novel in which the reader would get a realistic glimpse of how the judicial system really works and provide a wholesome family friendly novel that reveals Christian law enforcement officers living and working with others who do not share their faith.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? After doing research for "Hero's Ransom," we are struck by the influence the country of China will have in the coming years. We hope readers will see the symbolism of the ransom paid for Amber Worthing and Christ's ransom.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Reviewers (Christian Fiction Review and others) have favorably compared our writing to John Grisham. Inspiration comes from our faith, God's creation, and love of family.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: We call our novels "factional-fiction," as each one contains bits and pieces of true cases or events. The names and places are changed to protect us. "Hero's Ransom" features a child custody case inspired by Diane's legal work helping children. It also highlights the smuggling of antiquities, which is based on a real case David made.
