Heroes of the Bible Devotional is a great study geared for children. This is a 90 day devotional that teaches kids that not only were people in the Bible people like you and me who experienced both success and failures, but that they were also heroes because they loved and served God. This devotional also explains that they too can be heroes just by serving God and it gives great examples of this through telling the stories of people like Noah, Hezekiah, and David. The devotional also tells its readers what important truths they can learn from each of these characters and how those truths can apply to their lives so they can be Gods heroes too. I also like how they used creative titles to encourage kids to apply what they learned from not only the Bible but also the devotional. This devotional is a great study for kids because it not only teaches them how to be heroes for God, but it also is written in a way that they will understand and be entertained too.

This is excellent for middle school readers. It has a graphic novel feel to it, and the devotionals are short. The assignments are reasonable and easy. Its laid out in 90 daily readings, so its an easy book to read. The stories include some famous and some obscure Bible figures. I enjoyed this myself, because I learned a lot. I would not recommend downloading it to an e-reader unless you want to teach your youngsters patience. To download it to my older model e-reader took forever, and I had to wait one or two minutes every time I turned a page. I believe its because this has a lot of graphics. I was wishing I had chosen the paperback. The pictures were great, though, and they enhanced it quite well.

We all possess the ability to be a hero for God

    Each devotion (90 days) includes:

A TRUE HERO FOR GOD_, (identifying an affirming action, belief, or understanding from a person in the Bible.)

A HERO'S TALE (an account from the Bible)

DECODING THE MESSAGE (explaining the underlying message)

THE BATTLE PLAN (further Bible reading on the topic.)

The illustrations are appealing and effective. They are well drawn, suiting both the Bible verse and devotion.

Even though this unique devotional book is suited for young people, I (as an adult) appreciate the significant messages, most importantly that Jesus is the greatest hero, and we all possess the ability to be a hero for God!
