As an instructor in both ancient Hebrew and Aramaic, Chaim Bentorah is convinced that there are powerful truths buried in the original language of God's Word that most Christians have never been exposed to. The Word of God is like the heart of God: it is a well that never runs dry. Bentorah's Hebrew Word Study: Revealing the Heart of God combines an in-depth look at the meanings of a variety of scriptural words and phrases in the original Hebrew with a down-to-earth application for our daily Christian experience, yielding a devotional word-study unlike any other. By delving into the multiple layers and nuances of the ancient Hebrew language, you will discover that God is revealing His heart to you through the depths of His Word in new and exciting ways.
Hebrew is a language of poetry and pictures. Guided by Bentorah's expertise in biblical languages, you will examine not just word definitions, but also the origin of the words, their place in the culture and idioms of the day, and even their emotional context. Through this devotional, you will walk the road less traveled as you uncover the deeper spiritual messages in God's Word. In the process, you will discover the heart of God toward you and come to know Him better. You will see just how beautiful the Word of God is and, most of all, you will see the beauty of God Himself and love Him all the more.

There are 90 word studies that will "encourage and strengthen you in your relationship with God. As you search the depths of God's Word, you will see just how beautiful the Scriptures are, and most of all, you will see the beauty of God Himself and come to love Him all the more." This book would make a fine gift for anyone desiring a better understanding of God's heart.
It has greatly helped me to gain a deeper, richer, more meaningful understanding of God's heart and just how much He loves me. Since it is very difficult to accurately translate a word from the Hebrew into English, the author's detailed explanation of several key words from the Hebrew language enables the reader to gain a better perspective on the intended meaning of the word, especially when it is given in the context of Scripture.
I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars. I received a copy from Whitaker House and The Book Club Network, Inc. in exchange for my honest review.
DonnaGeorgiaAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Devotional and study bookOctober 6, 2016DonnaGeorgiaAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This was a very interesting, informative book with great resources and reference's written by Chaim Bentorah. There are are 90 devotionals. A book that will give you a closer relationship with God and His word. I admit that I am still reading this study book in order to take it all in. But with what I have read so far I am able to make this review without waiting another month or so. I love that there is a Bible verse at the beginning of each study followed by the lesson.
This is the first book I have read by this author. He has a great way of writing that makes it easy for you to understand the book.
I am glad to have had the opportunity to read the Hebrew Word Study and highly recommend this book.

Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Not what I expected but really goodSeptember 23, 2016Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When I got this book, I wasn't quite sure exactly what to expect, but I was in for a pleasant surprise. I assumed it to be a type of concordance with the Hebrew word, what it meant, where to find it, and how it was used in the context.
Instead, I received a devotional in which the Hebrew word is expounded upon and used to encourage heart.
There are 90 devotionals that could easily be used daily. Each one is based on a Hebrew word - translated as we would use it in English with Scriptures accompanying it and defas it would have been used in Hebrew. it contains a Hebrew/English index and vise versa at the very end.
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight on how the Hebrew letters are written and what they symbolized, as well as, how those letters played into the "meaning" of the word. For me, this book is a keeper and going on my shelf for future reference and study. I believe you will also find it an asset to your library or your church's library.
I received this book from bookfun.org and Whitaker House in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not required to review this positively.
Deana5 Stars Out Of 5Great Study on WordsAugust 12, 2016DeanaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am excited that I was able to receive this book. It is just what I have been looking for. I often wonder what certain words mean in Hebrew . This book is a great devotional book that will take you through 90 different words or phrases of intense study . I loved all the different words and their meanings. They were easy to understand and made me want to dig further. I love eagles and I especially like Isaiah 40:31, " But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength ; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. " I loved how the author broke down the scripture and made it easier to understand the full meaning. When the scripture mentioned " mounting up as..." "We bind ourselves to God, we will not only "renew" our strength" but we will also "mount up with wings as eagles."
The chapter goes on to explain more about the eagle that was fascinating to me. I am honored to have this book and will use it frequently as I do bible studies to help me get a clearer picture of what scriptures or words are saying. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to do an in depth study on the meaning of words. It is a wonderful addition to have as you spend time in the Word.
I received a copy of this book from Thr BookClub Network for an honest review.
lcjohnson1988IndianaAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5loved the way it is writtenAugust 7, 2016lcjohnson1988IndianaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Here is a book that will enrich a believers study of the Scriptures as well as the understanding brought with a deeper revelation of the God we love and serve. In the preface, a paragraph I read really revealed to me the authors heart: One secret to sustained studying of Gods Word is this: If you fall in love with the Author of the Bible, you will feel there is not enough time in the day to study His word. Also, as your love for Him deepens, He will reveal His secrets to you. I have fond the Word of God to be a well that never runs dry. (pg. 15)
The book is written in a devotional format so no one has to know the Hebrew. The author does a superb job of having us focus on the heart of God. There are 90 days worth of short devotions that I believe the author meant as a launching pad to begin further, deeper study of the Bible. In that time alone with God, our minds are renewed, our sins become revealed and once we repent we are forgiven. We come out of that time sustained and thirsty for more of Him instead of looking at time with the Lord as something to check off out daily to do list.
The book reminds readers of the Person of God and His hearts desire for us to draw near to know Him, to come and reason with Him by using our God given minds. Over the last few years, God has led me to study, read and desire to understand the Jewishness of the Word. We have the Bible today because of those Jewish people to whom it was given and they brought it to the world.
I hope you read, reflect and share with others what you learn about the heart of our God when you use the Hebrew Word Study by Chaim Bentorah. If you desire to know more, the author has a website as well as other books that he has written to help us grow in our understanding and to see the loving heart of God revealed in the Bible.
