When I saw this book, I knew I wanted to read it. I had read another book by Chip Ingram, The Invisible War, and I'd listened to him on the radio for years. He doesn't throw stuff out there that's just his opinion, he bases what he preaches and writes directly from Scripture.

This book is exactly that: based on Scripture. It's not some account of someone having a near death experience and going to heaven and reporting back. Too many of those have been proven false. No one knows what Heaven is really like. The Word is silent on many aspects of that.

Chip says that he is not going to go on someone else's supposed version but what the Scripture actually says about Heaven. This is what I wanted to read. Something that is real. He goes into depth here about Heaven, based solely on what the Word of God says. He makes it plain that he's not going to speculate, which I admire. I've read other books about Heaven and they just go meandering and predicting what they think it will be like. Chip Ingram sticks to facts laid out in God's Word.

I enjoyed this book, underlined many parts and intend to keep it as a part of my library. I do recommend it.

When my bible study group decided to study the book of Revelation I started to research books on heaven. There are a great deal of books related to the subject of heaven and not all of them are what I would term accurate. Then I can across this gem.

First the author deals with why we need to be concerned with heaven while we are here on earth. God put the book of Revelation in His word for a reason. He could have easily left out Revelation 21 and 22, but He was gracious enough to give His children a glimpse of is in store for them.

Lets be honest, we dont hear about heaven taught about all the often. I, have never heard heaven taught from the pulpit, so for a long time my view of heaven was distorted to some degree. The author then deals with why why we need to study about heaven. He states that heaven was spoken and taught about on a regular basis until about a hundred years ago. I believe that this is the work of the enemy because if Christians really understood what heaven is going to be like it would light a fire in them.

He deals with subjects of who actually goes to heaven, when will human history on earth end, what the New Earth and New Jerusalem may look like based on scripture.

I loved the fact that he stuck to what the Bible actually says. He doesnt have an agenda, he doesnt go off on a tangent, he sticks to what Gods word says.

He writes for us, not scholars or theologians, so the book is easy to understand. He does give several definitions to some of the original Greek word usage but for me this just added to the depth of Gods word.

Its not a big book, only about 160 pages and another 20 pages for the appendix. This is not book that will take you weeks or months to get through, but it is a book that you will be (hopefully) highlighting and writing in for future references.

I was really impressed with the quality of this book, so much so was so that I actually bought a copy for my church library and a copy for me.

This book was what other reviews said; easy to understand, used scripture as the foundation of the subject and for me encouraging. Coming from a non-biblical background most of my life, I was very happy to learn what the bible says on Heaven. I recommend it especially if you're like me and want to know the truth on Heaven.

With so much interest in heaven, The Real Heaven is a timely response to questions of both believers and unbelievers. Ingram's doctrine is solid and any speculation is clearly identified. I bought a second copy for my neighbor, plan to recommend it to others, and use it in some evangelistic venues.
