While my story is not in this book, I am one of Nancy's earlier birthing clients. By the time our 1st baby was born, Nancy had assisted in more than 200 births, as I recall. Over the course of 2+ years, I had the privilege of spending considerable time in the Spencer home. And thus, I came to know and love Nancy from various angles. Now, about 36 years after our first meeting, Nancy is involved in the birthing experience of our second grandchild. While she is older, with much more experience, her heart of wonder and love is still evident. It is a delight to encounter her again in this way.

Reading her book has only endeared me to Nancy all the more. Her wonder at life and love was ever contagious and inspiring. Her loving, caring, joyous and respectful response to people in general, and birthing in specific is well portrayed in this book. Nancy cherishes each person in her life. And each birthing experience is one of wonder and delight. Undergirding all is her love and reverence for God and all He has created.

I heartily recommend this book. Especially so for those thinking of becoming parents, or those anticipating the birth of a child. Even if one opts for a hospital birth, the stories in this book, whether filled with perfect endings, or sprinkled with grief, will give pause for thought and reflection. As well as, the possibility to strengthen the finer qualities of character which open the soul to receive whatever gift may come through the birthing process.
