Following the example of Joan of Arc, who sought God on her knees, received a directive from Him, and then stood and followed His leading, you too can be inspired and equipped to live out your purpose in first hearing from God and then taking your stand in following Him. Hearts of Purpose brings you nine real-life stories from ordinary women doing extraordinary things for the glory of God. These powerful stories are inspirational and reflective, and will help you open the door toward exploring His call in your own life.
As Gail Grace Nordskog professes, quoting Song of Solomon 2:4, His banner over me is love. Just as Joan of Arc could step forth in full confidence under the banner of her calling, so we too have the banner of Gods love over our lives. Nordskog reinforces this affirmation throughout her book, reminding readers of God's love: the touchstone that directs our hearts and lives.
Gail Grace Nordskog is the co-publisher at Nordskog Publishing Inc. alongside her husband Jerry, and has established the Gail Grace Nordskog Collection to produce daily prayer journals and inspirational books, such as Hearts of Purpose, that draw readers closer to God and embolden them to live out their lives for His glory.
Gail is a mature believer in Jesus Christ. She has been an accomplished media personality for over two decades, hosting her own television show, A Message for Women, and co-hosting MovieGuides TV Show with founder Dr. Ted Baehr, featuring interviews with celebrities such as Tyler Perry, Kirk Cameron and Sandra Bullock. Gail has also served as Branch Director for Family Connections Christian Adoptions.
Gail now produces and hosts the Hearts of Purpose television show, which focuses on interviewing men and women in Christian ministries, especially missionaries from the United States and around the world.
The Nordskogs live in Ventura, California, where they have raised six children, four of which were adopted from China. They have two dogs and seven grandchildren. Former owners of Powerboat Magazine, they are active in Christian publishing, Christian education, politics and numerous Christian ministries.
MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Women to InspireFebruary 6, 2018MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This nonfiction book contains the biographies of ten contemporary Christian women who are making a difference in the world. It begins with a conversation with Joan of Arc, who is featured on the cover. I enjoyed that intro. I had never heard of any of the women whose stories are shared. My favorite was the sixth narrative about Lisa Shidler, who has rescued many special needs orphans in China. Several of the ladies had sad backgrounds but have overcome their painful pasts. I found it sad that some had experienced immorality and divorce, but it shows how God can use imperfect people. This nice hardback book has a blue ribbon bookmark and color photos. These female heroes should inspire other ordinary women to give their lives in service for the Lord. I received a copy from Book Fun Club. All opinions are my own.
jacquiRIllinoisAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Hearts of PurposeOctober 16, 2017jacquiRIllinoisAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Hearts of Purpose-volume 1-The Callis a book in the Gail Grace Nordskog Collection. She begins this inspiring book with an imagined conversation with Joan of Arc as an introduction to the stories of ten ordinary women. Each one is an ordinary woman who has accomplished extraordinary things for God. The extraordinary God things include a pregnancy center, ministry to orphans, Christian Adoptions Agency, womens ministries and Safe Passage for abused women and children, YWAM Medical Ships, work with special needs orphans, Movieguide Faith and Values Award and movie productions, and more. The personal story of each woman by itself is amazing. Yet, the story of how God has used each one to improve lives and rescue individuals and a world in need is inspiring and challenging. The reader cannot help but be moved to reflect upon her own life and how she is fulfilling her own purpose for God in the world. I recommend this enthralling book that I received through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.
AnnelrBrighton, MIAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Inspiring accounts of women who said 'yes' to GodSeptember 18, 2017AnnelrBrighton, MIAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Hearts of Purpose is a compilation of stories of ten women who have trusted God with their dreams and have become the hands and feet of Christ to hurting people around the world. The book begins with an imaginative interview with Joan of Arc and the woman who presents these real-life accounts, Gail G. Nordskog. The book itself is a hardback book with glossy pages and beautiful color pictures throughout. After each story, Nordskog has a list of discussion questions to help the reader personalize some of the things the women shared in their stories. The storytelling is excellent, the first person narratives flow well and are easy to read. From orphanages in China, India, and Africa to a pregnancy center in California, from Youth With A Mission medical ships to stroke rehab centers and wheelchair ministries in the Ukraine and to clinics in Ethiopia where people seek treatment for Mossy Foot disease, these ten ordinary women are ministering to impoverished orphans, special needs children, women and men in desperate situations all over the world. Each of them has learned to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit and allow God to minister through them, even as they struggled with hard things in their own personal lives, such as cancer, blindness, insecurities, guilt from past decisions and dysfunctional families. Ordinary women who have been able to do extraordinary things because they chose to say 'yes' to a God who supplies and enables. A wonderfully inspirational book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Book Club network. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own.
Helen MAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Encouraging storiesSeptember 17, 2017Helen MAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Gail Grace Nordskog has this very inspiration book that includes the stories of ten women who have followed the calling from God in their lives and helped others in significant ways. Each chapter is written by a different woman and basically give their backgrounds and what they have done.
One of the things that I like the best about Hearts of Purpose is that it shows us that people from all walks of life get called to do God's work and follow through on it. A couple of women that stand out in my mind are Marilyn Pulis and Nita Hanson. I really enjoyed reading Marilyn's story of what it was like for her growing up on the farm. She married a pastor and they ministered together, not just in churches but has missionaries in different countries. Nita's story just pulled at my heart. Her childhood was filled with insecurity. I was encouraged with her story of her Christian walk and the missions trips that she took part in and how it changed her life.
Nita writes of five steps God takes us through, giving us what we need, when we need it.
First, God sees a situation and has compassion for what those involved are going through.
Second. God, brings the situation to our attention.
Third, God tells us to to help with the situation.
Fourth, God tells us to take what we have and use it to help with the situation.
Fifth. God will give us more than we need.
This was a very encouraging book to read. Through reading these women's stories, the reader will be reaffirmed that God does supply all our needs and that when He puts in our heart to do something, that He will supply what we need to do it. We will be the ones blessed by doing what God asks us to.
This is a hard covered book with thicker than normal pages. The pages have an artistic backgrounds and the colors of the pages change with the chapters. I really liked that this book comes with an attached book mark ribbon. This book would make a very elegant gift.
I received a copy of this book from BookFun and the author. I have written an honest review.
SusanPMichiganAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The perfect encouraging book we all need at our sides!September 5, 2017SusanPMichiganAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5First off, I adore how this looks and feels like a fancy classic book with its hard cover and beautifully classical design. The pages are stiffer than normal paper, thus making it more durable and perfect for gift giving! Now, for the stories themselves, there are no words to express correctly, although I will try to find some. The heart wrenching, beautifully poignant, yet so uplifting personal testimonies remind you that God is faithful and hears our cries! You will cry, laugh, smile, scream and hurt right along with these women as you read about their lives. Each story ends with discussion questions which will challenge you even more. The results of this book are exactly as the back blurb declares: inspire and encourage you to fulfill your God-ordained purpose! You will never regret giving this book a chance and sharing it with others who may have lost their way or feel God isnt listening. Im already thinking of many whom I would like to gift this to!
I received this from Bookfun.org and this is my own personal opinion.
